Sveto Letica
Sveto Letica (4 April 1926 – 6 November 2001) was a Croatian admiral, and the first commander of the Croatian Navy. Biography Letica was born in 1926 in Podgora, where he was involved in creating a Partisan Navy in 1942. He graduated at the Naval and War Academy. For 20 years he served on different warships of the Yugoslav Navy. He was Fleet commander, he was chief of a naval region, and before his retirement he served in ''Generalštab'' of JNA. He retired in 1986 with the rank of Vice Admiral in YPA. By decree of the President of the Presidency of the SFRY from September 1986, he was retroactively promoted to the rank of admiral. The long-time experience of Letica was precious for Croatia when the Croatian Navy was established in 1991. On 12 September 1991, the President of the Republic, Franjo Tuđman, named him Commander of Croatian Navy. He served as supreme navy commander until his second retirement on 1 June 1996. ''Admiral flote'' () is the fifth and highest Admiral of the Croatian Navy. This officer is referred to as, and is considered the equivalent of, a five-star Fleet Admiral. The insignia for a Croatian Senior Admiral is two thick rank stripes on both the sleeve and shoulder board. Between 1995 and 2002, the rank was called ''Stožerni admiral'' (), analogous to ''Stožerni general'' for the ground forces. Predrag Stipanović
Predrag Stipanović (born 1964) is a Croatian rear admiral, since January 2018 serving as the Croatian Military Representative to NATO . Biography Stipanović was born in 1964 in Osijek. He graduated from the 37th class of the Naval War Academy ( hr, Vojna mornarička akademija) in Split in 1986. During the breakup of Yugoslavia and the outbreak of the Yugoslav Wars, he left the Yugoslav Navy and volunteered to join the fledgling Croatian Navy. Stipanović served in the navy during the Croatian War of Independence (1991-1995). He commanded missile boat ''Šibenik'' when it fired RBS-15 anti-ship missiles in live fire exercise "Posejdon 94" in October 1994, marking the successful introduction of that missile type in the Croatian Navy. In 1999, Stipanović graduated from Command Staff College "Blago Zadro" in Zagreb, between 2002 and 2003 he attended U.S. Naval War College in Newport, RI, while in 2007 he graduated from War Staff College "Ban Josip Jelačić" in Zagreb.
