Coming Home (Kristin Chenoweth Album)
''Coming Home'' is a 2014 PBS special featuring a concert by Kristin Chenoweth. The concert was later made into a CD and DVD. Concert and broadcast In 2014, PBS asked Chenoweth to do a concert for a special. She chose to do it in her hometown of Broken Arrow, Oklahoma. The concert featured songs from her career, as well as songs she has enjoyed since her childhood. Chenoweth performed a duet of "For Good" with Broken Arrow resident Axyl Langford, and the Broken Arrow High School choir providing backup vocals in "Upon this Rock". Chenoweth stated: "I chose ‘My Coloring Book’ because when I was in college, my voice teacher didn’t think I understood the song, and told me to pull it out one day when I did. So I’m singing it all these years later, and she was there to witness it. "My Coloring Book" is a song written by Fred Ebb and John Kander. First performed by Sandy Stewart in 1962 on the television program ''The Perry Como Kraft Music Hall'', she was one of the first artists to record the work in 1962 when it was released as a single. She also included the song on her 1963 album which was also named ''My Coloring Book''. Stewart's single charted in the top 20, and so did another 1962 single version of the song recorded by Kitty Kallen. Stewart's recording of the song was nominated for the 1963 Grammy Award for Best Solo Vocal Performance, Female and Kander and Ebb were nominated for the 1963 Grammy Award for Song of the Year. "For Good" is a musical number from the hit musical '' Wicked''. It is sung as a duet between Elphaba (the Wicked Witch of the West) and Glinda (the Good Witch of the South) as a farewell. The song's score and lyrics were written by composer Stephen Schwartz. Context The song is performed near the end of the musical, as the two are bidding each other farewell. Immediately prior to the song, Elphaba gives Glinda the Grimmerie and tells her that it is now up to her to continue Elphaba's cause. After this song, Elphaba leaves and is supposedly melted by Dorothy (this is later revealed to be an elaborate scheme to fool the citizens of Oz into thinking she was dead so they would stop hunting her). At the song's conclusion, Fiyero, turned into "The Scarecrow" by one of Elphaba's spells gone awry, discovers Elphaba and they run away together. "Hard Times Come Again No More" (sometimes, "Hard Times") is an American parlor song written by Stephen Foster. It was published in New York by Firth, Pond & Co. in 1854 as Foster's Melodies No. 28.
