Comic Relief 2009
Red Nose Day 2009 was a fund-raising event organised by Comic Relief, broadcast live on BBC One and BBC Two from the evening of 13 March 2009 to early the following morning. It was part of the "Do Something Funny For Money" campaign. It was held on Friday 13 March till Saturday 14 March 2009 from 7:00 pm to 3:45 am on BBC One. Presenters Donation Progress 13 March 2009 The Mount Kilimanjaro total was £3,500,000. The Wine Relief total was £750,000. A notable, single donation of £6,000,000 was donated by an anonymous donor. £501,863 was raised by Ryman. Foxybingo.com raised £150,000. Telethon
A telethon (a portmanteau of "television" and "marathon") is a televised fundraising event that lasts many hours or even days, the purpose of which is to raise money for a charitable, political or other purportedly worthy cause. Most telethons feature heavy solicitations for pledges (promises to donate funds at a later time) by masters of ceremonies or hosts, who are often local celebrities or media personalities combined with variety show style entertainment such as singers, bands and instrumentalists. In some cases, telethons feature content related to the cause being supported, such as interviews with charitable beneficiaries, tours of charity-supported projects, or pre-taped sequences. ''Grownups'' is a BBC Three sitcom written by Susan Nickson, who also created hit BBC Three sitcom ''Two Pints of Lager and a Packet of Crisps''. ''Two Pints of Lager and a Packet of Crisps'' is a British sitcom that ran from 26 February 2001 to 24 May 2011. First broadcast on BBC Two, it starred Sheridan Smith, Will Mellor, Natalie Casey, Ralf Little, Kathryn Drysdale and Luke Gell. Created and written by Susan Nickson and set in her hometown of Runcorn, Cheshire, it originally revolved around the lives of five twentysomethings.
