Comben Homes was a large British house builder. History The company was founded in 1907 by James White Comben and William Henry Wakeling as ''Comben & Wakeling'' and was incorporated as a private company in 1924. In 1972 it bought Ryedale Homes from Duncan Davidson for £1m and changed its name to ''Comben Group'' and subsequently traded as ''Comben Homes''. It was acquired by Trafalgar House and integrated in its Ideal Homes housebuilding business in 1984. Ideal Homes (UK Housebuilder)
Ideal Homes was a British housebuilder. New Ideal Homesteads was formed in 1929 and, under Leo Meyer, became the country's largest private housebuilder in the 1930s. It never achieved the same success after the War and in 1967 it was bought by Trafalgar House. Helped by the acquisition of Comben Homes and Broseley Estates it had become the fifth largest housebuilder by the late 1980s. However, Trafalgar's weakened financial position eventually led to the sale of Ideal Homes to Persimmon in 1996. History Ideal Homes, as it was generally known, was incorporated in 1929 as New Ideal Homesteads. Its driving force for over thirty years was Leo Meyer, a one-time assistant surveyor for Erith Council. Duncan Davidson (businessman)
Duncan Henry Davidson (born 29 March 1941) is the founder of Persimmon plc, one of the United Kingdom's largest housebuilding businesses. In 2018, it was reported that his wealth had risen by £32 million and he was worth £175 million. Career Davidson is the grandson of the 15th Duke of Norfolk and educated at Ampleforth College. He was a pageboy at the Coronation of Elizabeth II and nine years later worked as a labourer on London's Blackwall Tunnel. Trafalgar House was a British conglomerate with interests in property investment, property development, engineering, construction, shipping, hotels, energy and publishing. It was listed on the London Stock Exchange and was a constituent of the FTSE 100 Index but eventually floundered in the mid-1990s. History Trafalgar House was founded by entrepreneur Nigel Broackes, whose interests in share dealing and small scale property development brought him into contact with the directors of the Eastern International Investment Trust, a small trust quoted on the London Stock Exchange.
