Holy Child Academy
Holy Child Academy or "HCA", colloquially pronounced as , is a secondary school run by the Roman Catholic Diocese of Pagadian in Pagadian City, Philippines. HCA is the oldest among the Diocesan Schools of Pagadian and the second oldest school in Zamboanga del Sur. Brief history Founded as Pagadian Academy, a parochial school started by Fr. Jose Ma. Reyes of the Society of Jesus in 1940. The Academy was the second school to open in the Province of Zamboanga del Sur after the Southern Mindanao Colleges. As the first sectarian school, the Academy pioneered Catholic education in the province. With the departure of the Jesuits from Pagadian, the Missionary Society of St. Columban took control of the Academy until the 1970s when the Roman Catholic Diocese of Pagadian took over. The academy shared the same fate with other Columban-controlled schools; namely, the Star of the Sea High School, Immaculate Heart Academy, and Saint Columban College. The four schools started the n ...

Healthcare Assistant
Unlicensed assistive personnel (UAP) are paraprofessionals who assist individuals with physical disabilities, mental impairments, and other health care needs with their activities of daily living (ADLs). UAPs also provide bedside care—including basic nursing procedures—all under the supervision of a registered nurse, licensed practical nurse or other health care professional. UAPs must demonstrate their ability and competence before gaining any expanded responsibilities in a clinical setting. While providing this care, UAPs offer compassion and patience and are part of the patient's healthcare support system. Communication between UAPs and registered nurses (RNs) is key as they are working together in their patients' best interests. The scope of care UAPs are responsible for is delegated by RNs or other clinical licensed professionals. UAPs care for patients in hospitals, residents of nursing facilities, clients in private homes, and others in need of their services due ...

HCA (classification)
HCA is a para-cycling classification. Definition In 2008, ''BBC Sport'' defined this classification as "HCA: For athletes with complete loss of trunk and lower limb function" In 2008, the ''Australian Broadcasting Corporation'' defined this classification was "Handcycling (HC): Cyclists in handcycling race on bikes with two big wheels at either end - they sit in the middle and use a hand crank rather than pedals to propel themselves forward. These competitors usually require a wheelchair for mobility or are unable to use normal bikes or tricycles because of severe lower limb disability." The Australian Paralympic Education Program defined this classification in 2012 as: "For athletes with complete loss of trunk and lower limb function" Classification history Cycling first became a Paralympic sport at the 1988 Summer Paralympics. In September 2006, governance for para-cycling passed from the International Paralympic Committee's International Cycling Committee to UCI at a meeting in ...

Car Battery
An automotive battery or car battery is a rechargeable battery that is used to start a motor vehicle. Its main purpose is to provide an electric current to the electric-powered starting motor, which in turn starts the chemically-powered internal combustion engine that actually propels the vehicle. Once the engine is running, power for the car's electrical systems is still supplied by the battery, with the alternator charging the battery as demands increase or decrease. Battery in modern cars Gasoline and diesel engine Typically, starting uses less than three percent of the battery capacity. For this reason, automotive batteries are designed to deliver maximum current for a short period of time. They are sometimes referred to as "SLI batteries" for this reason, for starting, lighting and ignition. SLI batteries are not designed for deep discharging, and a full discharge can reduce the battery's lifespan. As well as starting the engine, an SLI battery supplies the extra power ne ...

Brilliant (diamond Cut)
A brilliant is a diamond or other gemstone cut in a particular form with numerous facets so as to have exceptional brilliance. The shape resembles that of a cone and provides maximized light return through the top of the diamond. Even with modern techniques, the cutting and polishing of a diamond crystal always results in a dramatic loss of weight; rarely is it less than 50%. The round brilliant cut is preferred when the crystal is an octahedron, as often two stones may be cut from one such crystal. Oddly shaped crystals such as macles are more likely to be cut in a '' fancy cut''—that is, a cut other than the round brilliant—which the particular crystal shape lends itself to. Facet proportions and names The original round brilliant-cut was developed by Marcel Tolkowsky in 1919. The ideal proportions are 100% diameter, 53% table, 43.1% pavilion and 16.2% crown. The girdle and culet (if anynot part of Tolkowsky's original design) are cut from the ideal brilliant. Th ...

Hydroxycitric Acid
Hydroxycitric acid (HCA) is a derivative of citric acid that is found in a variety of tropical plants including '' Garcinia cambogia'' and ''Hibiscus sabdariffa''. There are four isomers, (+)- and (-)-hydroxycitric acid, and (+)- and (-)-allo-hydroxycitric acid. The (-)-hydroxycitric acid isomer is the one found in ''Garcinia''. Chemistry Hydroxy citric acid as such cannot be isolated from garcinia fruits or hibiscus sabdariffa fruits. Hydroxy citric acid exist in both the open and lactone forms. The presence of two chiral centres in the molecule is exploited to construct molecular skeletons that are otherwise difficult to synthesize, thus demonstrating the lactones use as chirons. Biological effects (-)-HCA is a competitive inhibitor of ATP citrate lyase, which converts citrate into oxaloacetate and acetyl CoA. The reverse of this conversion is a step in the citric acid cycle. Laboratory and animal studies of HCA have produced results that indicate a potential for modulation ...

Host Channel Adapter
In computer hardware, a host controller, host adapter, or host bus adapter (HBA), connects a computer system bus, which acts as the host system, to other computer network, network and computer storage, storage devices. The terms are primarily used to refer to devices for connecting SCSI, Fibre Channel and Serial ATA, SATA devices. Devices for connecting to Parallel ATA, IDE, Ethernet, FireWire, USB and other systems may also be called host adapters. Host adapters can be integrated in the motherboard or be on a separate expansion card. The term network interface controller (NIC) is more often used for devices connecting to computer networks, while the term converged network adapter can be applied when protocols such as iSCSI or Fibre Channel over Ethernet allow storage and network functionality over the same physical connection. SCSI A SCSI host adapter connects a host system and a peripheral SCSI device or storage system. These adapters manage service and task communicati ...

High Content Analysis
High-content screening (HCS), also known as high-content analysis (HCA) or cellomics, is a method that is used in biological research and drug discovery to identify substances such as small molecules, peptides, or RNAi that alter the phenotype of a cell in a desired manner. Hence high content screening is a type of phenotypic screen conducted in cells involving the analysis of whole cells or components of cells with simultaneous readout of several parameters. HCS is related to high-throughput screening (HTS), in which thousands of compounds are tested in parallel for their activity in one or more biological assays, but involves assays of more complex cellular phenotypes as outputs. Phenotypic changes may include increases or decreases in the production of cellular products such as proteins and/or changes in the morphology (visual appearance) of the cell. Hence HCA typically involves automated microscopy and image analysis. Unlike high-content analysis, high-content screening implies ...

Hierarchical Cluster Analysis
In data mining and statistics, hierarchical clustering (also called hierarchical cluster analysis or HCA) is a method of cluster analysis that seeks to build a hierarchy of clusters. Strategies for hierarchical clustering generally fall into two categories: * Agglomerative: This is a " bottom-up" approach: Each observation starts in its own cluster, and pairs of clusters are merged as one moves up the hierarchy. * Divisive: This is a "top-down" approach: All observations start in one cluster, and splits are performed recursively as one moves down the hierarchy. In general, the merges and splits are determined in a greedy manner. The results of hierarchical clustering are usually presented in a dendrogram. The standard algorithm for hierarchical agglomerative clustering (HAC) has a time complexity of \mathcal(n^3) and requires \Omega(n^2) memory, which makes it too slow for even medium data sets. However, for some special cases, optimal efficient agglomerative methods (of compl ...
