House Of Coloma
Coloma or de Coloma or Colomba is an old important Spanish Noble House. A branch belongs to the Flemish nobility, and became the Counts of Bornhem. Other branches became the Counts of Elda, Marquesses of Espinar, Marquesses of Noguera and Marquesses of Canales de Chozas. History The origin is going back to Don Pedro de Coloma and his wife dona Maria de Cardona. Pedro was esquire of Gaston, count of Carcasonnes. He left France and settled in Catalonia, and was called Coloma (a female pidgeon, in Catalan), from the French Colombe. His descendants made military careers in service of the Kings of Aragon. Gaston I de Coloma was rewarded the Order of Montesa. Other early members like Francisco Coloma fought against the moriscos in Mallorca. Juan I de Coloma left Catalonia and went to Borja, Zaragoza, Borja, he received by royal grace of John II of Aragon and Navarre the Seigneury of Alfajarin in 1467. Minnie Patterson
Minnie Paterson (died 1911) was a Canadian heroine noted for her rescue of men from the barkentine (barque) '' Coloma'' during a severe storm in 1906. Paterson was the wife of Tom Paterson, keeper of the Cape Beale Light near Bamfield, British Columbia. On December 6, 1906, Keeper Paterson spotted the crippled ''Coloma'' being battered by waves and 80 knot winds near shore. The telegraph line was broken, and the nearest hope was the lighthouse tender ''Quadra'', six miles away on Bamfield Inlet. While Tom kept watch over the ''Coloma'', Minnie went to seek help. To reach the ''Quadra'', Mrs. Paterson had to wade through icy, waist-deep seawater and mud, over toppled trees, through rain and hail; four hours later she finally reached Bamfield, and with the aid of another keeper's wife, they rowed a skiff out to alert the crew of the ''Quadra''. Minnie insisted on immediately returning on foot to the lighthouse so that the mother of five could nurse her youngest unweaned baby. The '' ... Sint-Pieters-Leeuw (; french: Leeuw-Saint-Pierre) is a Dutch-speaking municipality of Belgium located in the province of Flemish Brabant (Flemish Region).
