Colm Moriarty
Colm Moriarty (born 12 June 1979) is an Irish professional golfer. Moriarty was born in Dublin. He turned professional in 2003, after playing in the victorious Great Britain and Ireland Walker Cup team. He has competed mostly on lower level tours, qualifying for his first full season on the second tier Challenge Tour in 2005. In 2007 he recorded wins on both the Challenge Tour, at the FIRSTPLUS Wales Challenge, and the third tier PGA EuroPro Tour, at the Wensum Valley International Open. In July 2010, he led local final qualifying at Kingsbairn for his first major, the 2010 Open Championship at St Andrews, where he made the cut and finished tied 37th. Felipe Andrés Aguilar Schuller (born November 7, 1974) is a Chilean professional golfer who plays on the European Tour. Career In 2006 he became the second Chilean, after Roy Mackenzie to earn full membership to the European Tour but failed to retain full playing rights at the end of the season. In 2007 he won two events on the Challenge Tour in a 4-week span. Due to his success on the Challenge Tour he rejoined the European Tour in 2008. In February 2008, Aguilar won his first European Tour event at the Astro Indonesia Open. He birdied the final hole while the erstwhile leader Jeev Milkha Singh bogeyed for a two shot swing that saw the Chilean win by one stroke. 2005 European Amateur Team Championship
The 2005 European Amateur Team Championship took place 28 June – 2 July at Hillside Golf Club in Southport, England. It was the 24th men's golf European Amateur Team Championship. Venue The club was founded in 1911. The course, located in Southport, 20 kilometres north of the city center of Liverpool, England, is a links course, with all the holes being between and on mainly large dunes and local indigenous pinewoods, typical of the area. It is physically close to both the Royal Birkdale Golf Club, near its south-western boundaries, and to the Southport and Ainsdale Golf Club. The European Amateur Team Championship is a European amateur team golf championship for men organised by the European Golf Association which was introduced in 1959. The championship was played in odd-numbered years from 1959 to 2007 and has been played annually since 2008 (with the exception of 2012). 2003 Walker Cup
The 2003 Walker Cup, the 39th Walker Cup Match, was played on 6 and 7 September 2003, at Ganton Golf Club in North Yorkshire, England. The event was won by Great Britain and Ireland 12½ to 11½, marking the first time that Great Britain & Ireland had three consecutive wins. Format The format for play on Saturday and Sunday was the same. There were four matches of foursomes in the morning and eight singles matches in the afternoon. In all, 24 matches were played. Each of the 24 matches is worth one point in the larger team competition. If a match is all square after the 18th hole extra holes are not played. Rather, each side earns ½ a point toward their team total. The team that accumulates at least 12½ points wins the competition. 2002 Eisenhower Trophy
The 2002 Eisenhower Trophy took place 24–27 October on the Palm and Bunga Raya courses at Saujana Golf and Country Club in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia. It was the 23rd World Amateur Team Championship for the Eisenhower Trophy. The tournament was a 72-hole stroke play team event with 63 three-man teams. The best two scores for each round counted towards the team total. Each team was due to play two rounds on the two courses. The leading teams played on the Bunga Raya course on the third day and were due to play on the Palm course on the final day. After heavy rain and lightning on the final morning, a cut was introduced and only the leading 20 teams played the final round. Positions 21 to 63 were determined by scores after three rounds. The leading 33 teams had played their third round on the Bunga Raya course while the others played on the Palm course. Eisenhower Trophy
The Eisenhower Trophy (World Men's Amateur Team Championships) is the biennial World Amateur Team Championship for men organized by the International Golf Federation. Since the tournament was first played in 1958, it is named after Dwight D. Eisenhower, the President of the United States at the time, who was a keen amateur golfer. The equivalent competition for women is the Espirito Santo Trophy. Results The 1958 championship resulted in a tie. There was an 18-hole playoff which Australia won with a score of 222 to the United States 224. From 1958 to 2000 the teams had four players with the best three scores counting for each round. From 2002 the teams have been three players with two counting. The 2004, 2010 and 2012 championships were reduced to 54 holes because of bad weather.
