Collonges-Fort-l'Écluse – Divonne-les-Bains Line
The Collonges-Fort-l'Écluse – Divonne-les-Bains railway is a disused French railway line linking the Lyon-Geneva Railway from a junction near Collonges to Divonne-les-Bains. It crosses the whole of the region called the ' Pays de Gex' and is 38 km long. It used to continue through to Nyon in Switzerland. It is line number 891 000 of the French rail network. History The line was opened 1 June 1899, and extended to Nyon in Switzerland in 1904. In the sixties, there were four services per day using 'Picasso' diesel railcars. The last passenger train ran on 31 May 1980. Since then, the passenger service has been replaced by a TER bus service from Bellegarde-sur-Valserine to Divonne-les-Bains. The only traffic on the line until 2014 is a twice weekly household waste train from Chevry to the SIDEFAGE incinerator south of Bellegarde-sur-Valserine. Gex (; frp, Gèx; it, Gesio) is a commune in the Ain department in eastern France and a subprefecture of the department. It lies from the Swiss border and from Geneva. It is a subprefecture of Ain. History The town gave its name to the ''Pays de Gex'', at various times under the jurisdiction of France, Switzerland and the Duchy of Savoy. The future site of Gex was inhabited around 1800 BC. The SNCF BB 75000 (also known as the SNCF BB 475000) are 4 axle, Bo′Bo′, diesel electric locomotives ordered in 2000 by SNCF for freight operations to renew its aging fleet. The locomotives are also classified as Prima DE30BAC They are similar in appearance to the SNCF Class BB 27000, but are in fact the result of a collaboration between Alstom and Siemens. The internal electrical components are similar to those found in the Siemens EuroRunner made for ÖBB; the Rh 2016, and the bodyshell, bogies and other equipment being of the Prima type made by Alstom.
