Victoria Park is a stadium, sports venue in Abbotsford, Victoria, Abbotsford, a suburb of Melbourne in Victoria, Australia. The stadium is oval shaped and was built to host Australian rules football and cricket matches. In the past Victoria Park featured a cycling track, tennis courts, and a baseball club that once played curtain raisers to football matches. Victoria Park is historically notable as a former Australian Football League (known as the Victorian Football League until 1989) venue between 1892 and 1999 and headquarters of the Collingwood Football Club for 107 years until 2004. Marconi Stallions Football Club is an Australian semi-professional soccer club based in Fairfield, Sydney, New South Wales. The club has been crowned Australian champion four times. The Stallions are the soccer team of Club Marconi, a social and sporting club founded in 1958 by immigrants from Italy who settled in Sydney's western suburbs. It earned promotion to the top tier of soccer in New South Wales and established itself as one of the strongest clubs in Sydney during the 1970s, before becoming a founding member of the National Soccer League in 1977. Marconi was, along with South Melbourne, one of just two clubs to compete in all 27 seasons of the now-defunct National Soccer League. The National Soccer League (NSL) was the top-level soccer league in Australia, run by Soccer Australia and later the Australian Soccer Association. The NSL, the A-League's predecessor, spanned 28 seasons from its inception in 1977 until its demise in 2004, when it was succeeded by the A-League competition run by Football Federation Australia, the successor to the Australian Soccer Association. Andrew Vlahos
Andrew Vlahos (born 20 April 1976) is a former Australian-Greek footballer. Biography Andrew Vlahos began his senior career at Heidelberg United FC in the National Soccer League from 1994 to 1996. When Heidelberg and Collingwood Football Club formed to make Collingwood Warriors S.C., Vlahos signed for the new club and spent the season there, scoring 6 times in 24 games. The club consequently disbanded and Vlahos moved on to Carlton S.C. A move overseas followed to Greek giant Panathinaikos F.C. followed, but due to a lack of playing time, Vlahos moved to AO Agios Nikolaos for the 1999–2000 season. After that, Vlahos returned home to South Melbourne FC before moving to Football Kingz FC. Whilst enjoying previous success in the Belgian Jupiler League with Cercle Brugge, Vlahos decided to return home, to play for Melbourne Victory in the inaugural season of the A-League. Ernie Tapai
Ernie Tapai (born 14 February 1967) is an Australian former professional soccer player who spent the majority of his career in the Australian National Soccer League (NSL). He also had stints in England, Portugal and Singapore. Tapai played 52 times for Australia, including 37 times in full international matches. Early life Tapai was born in Subotica, Yugoslavia (now in Serbia). He migrated to Australia with his parents as a young child. Alan Davidson (Australian Footballer)
Alan Edward Davidson (born 1 June 1960) is an Australian former association football player. His father is Australian and his mother is Japanese. Club career Davidson made his senior debut in the Victorian State League in 1976 at the age of 15 playing for Altona City SC which had been his junior club. He transferred to South Melbourne in 1978, where he played until the end of the 1984 season, making 155 appearances and scoring 13 goals. He moved to England for the 1984–85 season for Nottingham Forest F.C. and a promising start where he broke into the first team as a right-back was curtailed by illness after suffering a blow to the head and having a seizure during a reserve game on a very cold night which side lined him till the end of the season. Dean Anastasiadis
Dean Anastasiadis (born 6 June 1970 in Melbourne, Australia) is a former Australian football (soccer) player. Biography A goalkeeper, he played for many years at a variety of clubs in the National Soccer League. This included being part of the 2000–01 championship side at Wollongong Wolves, and the 1997–98 Grand Final runner up Carlton SC side, of whom he is also the games record holder. On both occasions he played and was scored against by his brother John Anastasiadis. He retired at the end of 2008. Since then Anastasiadis has been coaching in the Victorian Premier League, and various State levels specializing in goalkeeper training. He also completed his Level B AFC/FFA outfield coaching diploma and Level 1 AFC/FFA goalkeeper licence. He is currently the goalkeeper coach with Melbourne Victory FC. Frank Juric
Frank Juric ( hr, Frank Jurić, ; born 28 October 1973) is an Australian former goalkeeper. Club career Born in Melbourne, Juric began his professional career in the former Australian national league with Melbourne Knights, where he won two league titles, before moving to the newly formed Collingwood Warriors (also based in Melbourne). The club struggled financially though and was unable to go on beyond this solitary season, in which they finished second bottom. The goalkeeper took this as his cue to move to Europe, although the transfer was a protracted affair, as Collingwood Warriors – no longer technically in existence – still demanded a fee from Fortuna Düsseldorf. Kimon Taliadoros (born 28 March 1968) is a former Australian footballer, sports commentator and businessman. He is President of Football Victoria. Football career Taliadoros played over 11 seasons in the National Soccer League for South Melbourne, Marconi, Sydney Olympic, Collingwood Warriors and Parramatta Power.
