Collingwood Colts
The Collingwood Blues are a junior ice hockey team based in Collingwood, Ontario. They play in the Ontario Junior Hockey League. History At the end of the 2018–19 season the Kingston Voyageurs was sold to Dave Steele, manager of the Stayner Siskins. The team was eventually moved to Collingwood and named the Collingwood Colts, ending 43 years of Vees hockey. Their home arena is the Eddie Bush Memorial Arena in Collingwood, Ontario. The Collingwood Colts are the main affiliate for the Barrie Colts of the Ontario Hockey League At the conclusion of the 2019-20 season, the team was rebranded the Collingwood Blues. Collingwood, Ontario
Collingwood is a town in Simcoe County, Ontario, Canada. It is situated on Nottawasaga Bay at the southern point of Georgian Bay. Collingwood is well known as a tourist destination, for its skiing in the winter, and limestone caves along the Niagara Escarpment in the summer. History The land in the area was first inhabited by the Iroquoian-speaking Petun nation, which built a string of villages in the vicinity of the nearby Niagara Escarpment. They were driven from the region by the Iroquois in 1650 who withdrew from the region around 1700. European settlers and freed Black slaves arrived in the area in the 1840s, bringing with them their religion and culture. Collingwood was incorporated as a town in 1858, nine years before Confederation, and was named after Admiral Cuthbert Collingwood, Horatio Nelson, Lord Nelson's second in command at the Battle of Trafalgar, who assumed command of the British fleet after Nelson's death. 2005–06 OPJHL Season
The 2005–06 OPJHL season is the 13th season of the Ontario Provincial Junior A Hockey League (OPJHL). The thirty-six teams of the North, South, East, and West divisions will compete in a 49-game schedule. Come February, the top eight teams of each division competed for the Frank L. Buckland Trophy, the OJHL championship. The winner of the Buckland Cup, the St. Michael's Buzzers, competed in the Central Canadian Junior "A" championship, the Dudley Hewitt Cup, and finished. If they had been successful against the winners of the Northern Ontario Junior Hockey League and Superior International Junior Hockey League, the champion Buzzers would have then moved on to play in the Canadian Junior A Hockey League championship, the 2006 Royal Bank Cup. Scott Arniel
Scott William Arniel (born September 17, 1962) is a Canadian former professional ice hockey player and current associate coach of the National Hockey League's Winnipeg Jets. Previously, he was the head coach of the Columbus Blue Jackets and associate coach of the New York Rangers & Washington Capitals. Playing career Junior hockey After entering the major junior ranks with the Kingston Canadians of the Ontario Major Junior Hockey League (OMJHL) in 1978–79, Arniel switched to the Quebec Major Junior Hockey League the next season to join the Cornwall Royals. Arniel played a pivotal role in the club's 1981 Memorial Cup championship with a hat trick in an 8–2 win over the Kitchener Rangers on May 10, 1981. Markham Royals
The Markham Royals are a Junior "A" ice hockey team from Markham, Ontario, Canada. They are a part of the Ontario Junior Hockey League. From 1973 until 2015, the team operated in Hamilton, Ontario as the Kilty's and the Red Wings. History Hamilton Red Wings/Kilty B's 1973-2015 The Red Wings were founded in 1973 as the second Hamilton-based team in the Niagara District Junior B Hockey League. After one season, the league divided into two leagues and the Red Wings went the way of the Golden Horseshoe Junior Hockey League. In 1975-76, the other Hamilton team joined the Southern Ontario Junior A Hockey League and became the Hamilton Mountain A's. Cobourg Cougars
The Cobourg Cougars are a junior ice hockey team from Cobourg, Ontario, Canada. They are a part of the East division of the Ontario Junior Hockey League, a member of the Canadian Junior Hockey League. The Cougars won the 2017 Royal Bank Cup national junior A championship. History The Cougars spent time in the Eastern Junior "B" league and the Central Junior C Hockey League before jumping to the Central Junior "B" league in 1992. The team graduated to Junior "A" when the league became the OPJHL the next season. In the summer of 2010, the Cobourg Cougars absorbed the Bowmanville Eagles. This move eliminated their local competition for players and local fan base. In March 2011, the Cougars also absorbed the Streetsville Derbys. The Cougars were chosen to host the 2017 Royal Bank Cup. The 2009–10 OJAHL season is the first and only season of the Ontario Junior A Hockey League (OJAHL). The 15 teams of the OJAHL competed in 56 regular season games, the top eight teams in the league competed in the playoffs for the league championship. The OJAHL's playoff champion played against the Central Canadian Hockey League's champion for the ''Buckland Cup''.
