Collingullie, New South Wales
History Collingullie () is a village north-west of Wagga Wagga in the Riverina region of New South Wales, Australia. The village is located on the Sturt Highway, between Wagga Wagga and Narrandera, at the crossroads with the road to Lockhart. At the 2016 census, Collingullie had a population of 221 people. The name, ''Collingullie'', could have derived from an Aboriginal word meaning 'boggy ground'. Collingullie Post Office opened on 1 August 1879 and closed in 1982. The town's school, Collingullie Public School which has 56 students, is located on Urana Street. In recent years the tiny village of Collingullie has produced two Australian Football League draftees – Matthew Kennedy and Harry Perryman, both playing for the Greater Western Sydney Football Club. Sturt Highway
Sturt Highway is an Australian national highway in New South Wales, Victoria, and South Australia. It is an important road link for the transport of passengers and freight between Sydney and Adelaide and the regions situated adjacent to the route. Initially an amalgam of trunk routes, the Sturt Highway was proclaimed a state highway in 1933. Harry Perryman (born 19 December 1998) is a professional Australian rules footballer playing for the Greater Western Sydney Giants in the Australian Football League (AFL). Early life Perryman was raised in the small Riverina town of Collingullie in country New South Wales. He participated in the Auskick program at Collingullie-Glenfield Park Demons and began playing junior football for the club in the Riverina Football Netball League. Matthew Kennedy (born 6 April 1997) is a professional Australian rules footballer playing for the Carlton Football Club in the Australian Football League (AFL). The 2016 Australian census was the 17th national population census held in Australia. The census was officially conducted with effect on Tuesday, 9 August 2016. Narrandera ( ) until around 1949 also spelled "Narandera", is a town located in the Riverina region of southern New South Wales, Australia. The town lies on the junction of the Newell and Sturt highways, adjacent to the Murrumbidgee River, and it is considered the gateway to the Murrumbidgee Irrigation Area.
