James Kellaway Colling
James Kellaway Colling (1816–1905) or J. K. Colling was an English architect, watercolour artist and noted book illustrator. He was a pioneer of early Chromolithographic printing and his graphic work has been compared with that of William Morris and John Ruskin Career Initially Colling trained as an engineer and then from 1832 worked in the architectural office of Mathew Habershon (1789–1852) Habershon was talented artist and an early enthusiast for timber-framed houses, publishing in 1836 ''The Ancient Half Timbered Houses of England''. Between 1836 and 1840 he moved to Norwich to work under firstly John Brown and then, John Colson, who specialised in Church architecture, and it was during this period that Colling started preparing his illustrations of painted church furnishings and sculpture in East Anglian Churches. Robert Colling
Robert Colling (1749 – 7 March 1820), and his brother Charles (1751 – 16 January 1836), were English stock breeders, famous for their improvement of the Shorthorn breed of cows. Life He was the eldest son of Charles Colling of Ketton, near Darlington, and brother of Charles Colling. After receiving "an ordinary education", he was apprenticed to a grocer in Shields; but "not having his health" he came home to his father's farm and commenced an agricultural career. After spending some time at Hurworth, he entered on a farm at Barmpton, under the Lambton family. He had then "no thought of becoming a breeder of shorthorns, and only kept dairy cows". The foundation of his pedigree herd was a yellow-red and white bull, originally bought on the advice of his brother Charles for eight guineas, and afterwards sold to his brother for the Ketton herd (known in shorthorn history as 'Hubback'). Lin Colling
George Lindsay Colling (27 August 1946 – 13 July 2003) was a New Zealand rugby union player, coach and administrator. A halfback, Colling represented Otago and Auckland at a provincial level, and was a member of the New Zealand national side, the All Blacks The New Zealand national rugby union team, commonly known as the All Blacks ( mi, Ōpango), represents New Zealand in men's international rugby union, which is considered the country's national sport. The team won the Rugby World Cup in 1987 ..., in 1972 and 1973. He played 21 matches for the All Blacks but did not appear in any internationals. He went on to coach Ponsonby alongside Bryan Williams, and was an All Black selector in 1994. He also served on the board of the Auckland Rugby Union. Colling died of a brain tumour in Auckland in 2003. Nancie Colling
Florence Nancie Colling (née Whalley) also Nancie Evans (19 April 1919 – 1 July 2020) was an international lawn bowls competitor for England. Bowls career Born in Colwyn Bay her family relocated to Somerset. She started bowling in Frome during 1948 and was Secretary of the Frome Selwood Club and the Somerset Ladies Bowling Association. In 1956 she won the first of her four National titles when winning the singles championship. Just two years later she won her second title in 1958, again bowling for Somerset, this was the same year in which she married Harold Evans and then played as Nancie Evans. The third title was the 1965 two wood singles. Widowed in 1959 she remarried to Coryndon Colling in 1967, playing as Nancie Colling afterwards. Remarkably she won the fourth of her National singles titles in 1970, four years after a spine injury had temporarily paralysed her. Gary Colling (born 17 March 1950) is a former Australian rules footballer who played for St Kilda from 1968 until 1981 in the Victorian Football League The Victorian Football League (VFL) is an Australian rules football league in Australia serving as one of the second-tier regional semi-professional competitions which sit underneath the fully professional Australian Football League (AFL). It ... (VFL). Colling played 265 VFL games for the Saints after being recruited from Frankston. A defender, he was St Kilda captain in 1978.
