CollegeHumor
CollegeHumor is an Internet comedy company based in Los Angeles. Aside from producing content for release on YouTube, it was also a former humor website owned by InterActiveCorp ( IAC) until January 2020, when IAC withdrew funding and the website shut down. Since then, CollegeHumor has continued to release content on YouTube and its streaming service, Dropout. The site featured daily original humor videos and articles created by its in-house writing and production team, in addition to user-submitted videos, pictures, articles and links. Created by Josh Abramson and Ricky Van Veen in 1999, CollegeHumor is operated by CH Media, which also operates Dorkly.com and Dropout.tv, and formerly operated Drawfee.com. Amir Blumenfeld
Amir Shmuel Blumenfeld (; he, אמיר שמואל בלומנפלד; born January 18, 1983) is an Israeli-American comedian, actor, writer, Television presenter, television host, and member of the American comedy duo, Jake and Amir. Born in Israel, he moved to Los Angeles when he was two, and was hired by the New York City-based CollegeHumor in 2005. As well as contributing to its books and articles, he has written and starred in original videos for the comedy website—appearing in series such as ''Hardly Working'' and ''Very Mary-Kate''—and was a cast member on its short-lived MTV program ''The CollegeHumor Show''. Amir first came to national prominence in 2004 when he was a semi-finalist during Yahoo's inaugural national IM Live contest, losing to the eventual champions. Sam Reich
Sam Reich ( ; born July 22, 1984) is an American CEO, businessman, and game show host. He is best known for his work with CollegeHumor (which as of 2020, he majority owns), the TV show ''Adam Ruins Everything'', as well as hosting the web series "Game Changer." Life and career Sam is the son of Robert Reich, the former Secretary of Labor under Bill Clinton, and Clare Dalton, a retired law professor at Northeastern University. His brother, Adam Reich, is a sociology professor at Columbia University. He is of Jewish descent. In 2000, Reich dropped out of Buckingham Browne & Nichols High School as a result of clinical depression and in order to pursue acting. Shortly thereafter, he moved to New York and founded the comedy group Dutch West, which focused on making comedy videos for the Internet. Jake And Amir (web Series)
''Jake and Amir'' is a web series set in CollegeHumor's office in New York City and later Los Angeles where Jake Hurwitz and Amir Blumenfeld played humorous versions of themselves: Jake is usually depicted as a sensible "straight man" and Amir as his annoying, obsessive, and odd co-worker. Running for over eight years, ''Jake and Amir'' was CollegeHumor's longest-running series and has amassed approximately one billion views as of April 2017. The series served as the debut of the comedy duo Jake and Amir, who would go on collaborate on other comedy projects. Dropout (stylized as Dropout.tv, DROPOUT, or :DROPOUT) is an American subscription media service provider developed and operated by CH Media. It was founded in September 2018 and provides advertisement-free access to uncensored original shows, chat stories, comics, and a Discord server for fans. History In early September 2018, CollegeHumor began teasing the beginning of a new subscription service, putting hidden keyword clues on their website and in their videos. Entering these keywords to a website owned by CollegeHumor allowed users to see clips of videos, audio, and images that implied the beginning of a new CollegeHumor project. Brennan Lee Mulligan (born January 4, 1988) is an American comedian, actor, writer, and gamemaster. He has worked with CollegeHumor as a sketch writer and performer, and as gamemaster for their ''Dungeons & Dragons'' web series, ''Dimension 20'', as well as writing the superhero webcomic '' Strong Female Protagonist'' alongside artist Molly Ostertag.
