Colleen Hutchison
Colleen Fay Hutchison (born 7 November 1934) is an Australian politician. She was a Labor Party member of the South Australian House of Assembly from 1989 to 1993, representing the electorate of Stuart. Hutchison was elected to the House of Assembly at the 1989 state election, succeeding veteran Labor MP Gavin Keneally. She served on the Economics and Finance Committee during her term. Her seat of Stuart was abolished and merged into the adjacent seat of Eyre in an electoral redistribution for the 1993 election. The Australian Labor Party (South Australian Branch), commonly known as South Australian Labor, is the South Australian Branch of the Australian Labor Party, originally formed in 1891 as the United Labor Party of South Australia. It is one of two major parties in the bicameral Parliament of South Australia, the other being the Liberal Party of Australia (SA Division). Since the 1970 election, marking the beginning of democratic proportional representation (one vote, one value) and ending decades of pro-rural electoral malapportionment known as the Playmander, Labor have won 11 of the 15 elections. Electoral District Of Stuart
Stuart is a single-member electoral district for the South Australian House of Assembly. At 323,131 km², it is a vast country district extending from the Spencer Gulf as far as the Northern Territory border in the north and the Queensland and New South Wales borders in the east. The district includes pastoral lease and unincorporated Crown Lands, Lake Eyre and part of the Simpson Desert in the far north. Its main population centres since the 2020 boundaries redistribution are the industrial towns of Port Pirie and Port Augusta. The electorate is named after John McDouall Stuart, who pioneered a route across through this area from the settled areas in the south to the port of Darwin in the north. The City of Port Augusta is a local government area located at the northern end of Spencer Gulf in South Australia. It is centred on the town of Port Augusta. The city was the site of South Australia's main power supplier, the Port Augusta powerhouse, located on the coast of the Spencer Gulf. Graham Gunn
Graham McDonald Gunn, Order of Australia, AM (born 5 September 1942), was an Australian politician who was a member of the South Australian House of Assembly. A member of the Liberal Party of Australia (South Australian Division), Liberal Party, he represented the electorate of Electoral district of Eyre (South Australia), Eyre from 1970 to 1997, and the electorate of electoral district of Stuart, Stuart from 1997 to 2010. By the final years of his parliamentary career, Gunn had become the longest-serving member of any parliament in Australia. After attending Adelaide's Scotch College, Adelaide, Scotch College, Gunn pursued a career as a farmer and grazier in the Mount Cooper area. It sits in Parliament House in the state capital, Adelaide. Overview The House of Assembly was created in 1857, when South Australia attained self-government. The Liberal Party of Australia (South Australian Division), commonly known as the South Australian Liberals, is the South Australian Division of the Liberal Party of Australia. It was formed as the Liberal and Country League (LCL) in 1932 and became the South Australian Division of the Liberal Party when the Liberal Party was formed in 1945.
