''Collectible Spoons'' is a greatest hits collection by the Canadian new wave band Spoons. It includes material from their first four albums on Ready Records (including a couple of tracks from their lesser-known debut album ''Stick Figure Neighbourhood''), but ignores the next two (much more guitar-driven) albums, ''Bridges Over Borders'' and '' Vertigo Tango'' on Anthem Records. This CD is now out-of-print. Spoons (band)
Spoons is a Canadian new wave band, formed in Burlington, Ontario in 1979. They recorded several Canadian chart hits between 1982 and 1989, and in 1983, they were nominated for Most Promising Group of the Year at the Juno Awards. Their most popular songs include "Romantic Traffic", "Nova Heart", "Old Emotions", and "Tell No Lies". History Early years and influences (1979–1981) Spoons was formed in Burlington, Ontario, in 1979. The band initially consisted of Gordon Deppe (lead vocals and guitar), Sandy Horne (vocals and bass), Brett Wickens (keyboards and synthesizers), and Peter Shepherd (drums). Deppe, Horne, and Wickens attended Aldershot High School, and Deppe and Horne (the only constant members of the band) dated in high school. The band got their name as the members were eating alphabet soup at Brett Wickens' home. Greatest Hits Album

CN Tower
The CN Tower (french: Tour CN) is a concrete communications and observation tower in downtown Toronto, Ontario, Canada. Built on the former Railway Lands, it was completed in 1976. Its name "CN" referred to Canadian National, the railway company that built the tower. Following the railway's decision to divest non-core freight railway assets prior to the company's privatization in 1995, it transferred the tower to the Canada Lands Company, a federal Crown corporation responsible for real estate development. The CN Tower held the record for the world's tallest free-standing structure for 32 years, from 1975 until 2007, when it was surpassed by the Burj Khalifa, and was the world's tallest tower until 2009 when it was surpassed by the Canton Tower. Romantic Traffic
"Romantic Traffic" is a 1984 single by Canadian new wave band Spoons. It is from the soundtrack album ''Listen to the City'' from the movie of the same name. It was released in both 7" and 12" formats: on the former, it was the A-side (with "Theme for a City" on the B-side), while on the latter it was the B-side (with "Tell No Lies" on the A-side). Background Originally, the opening bass riff was meant to be played on piano, but due to Nile Rodgers' – who also produced the band's third studio album ''Talkback'' (1983) – suggestion, it was changed. The production was also "punched up" through the use of the Aubrey Juke Brass Section and the Simms Brothers' backing vocals – who also have played for the likes of David Bowie. The "doot-doots" in the chorus were added in by accident. Originally, Gordon Deppe lacked actual lyrics to add to those portions of the song. Nova Heart
"Nova Heart" is a song by the Canadian new wave band Spoons. It was released in May 1982 as the first single from their 1982 album ''Arias & Symphonies''. It was their first song to appear on the Canadian singles chart. Following the success of the initial 7″ single version of "Nova Heart" (#40 Canada), an extended 12″ single was subsequently released. The B-side, "Symmetry," which did not appear on the ''Arias & Symphonies'' album, was a dance single, and while it did not get much airplay, it got significant play in clubs. Nova Heart was re-released as a 30th Anniversary Edition CD on March 26, 2012. In addition to the "Single version" and the 12 inch Extended Mix of the song, the CD also has 2 new remixes made by the band itself, a demo made in 1981 and a "Live" version of the song recorded at Barrymore's club in Ottawa, Ontario in 1982. Stick Figure Neighbourhood
''Stick Figure Neighbourhood'' is the debut studio album by Canadian new wave band Spoons, released 1981 by Ready Records. It received some airplay, and went to the top of the Canadian University radio charts (specifically with songs "Conventional Beliefs" and "Red Light"), but it was their next studio album, ''Arias & Symphonies'' (1982) – and its best known single, "Nova Heart" – that were to bring them to prominence. This album was recorded by Daniel Lanois at the Grant Avenue Studios in Hamilton, Ontario. Its liner notes collectively thank fellow contemporary Toronto bands The Diodes, Martha and the Muffins, and concert promoter Gary Cormier of "The Garys". Ready Records
Ready Records was a small but influential independent record label based out of Toronto, Canada that signed a number of new wave and indie rock bands from the early to mid-1980s. Focusing primarily on local Toronto-area talent, it released 7" and 12" singles, LPs, and cassettes. Founded in 1979 by Angus MacKay and Andy Crosbie, the label existed between 1979 and 1985, when it folded. Its best selling group was the Spoons, but other acts that had minor hits or received national attention included Blue Peter, Colin Linden, and Manteca.
