Collapsing Opposites
Collapsing Opposites is an indie rock group and music project from Vancouver, British Columbia. It was founded in 2002 by artist and musician Ryan McCormick and has subsequently included over 18 different members. Split Album
A split album (or split) is a music album that includes tracks by two or more separate artists. There are also singles and EPs of the same variety, which are often called "split singles" and "split EPs" respectively. Split albums differ from "various artists" compilation albums in that they generally include several tracks of each artist, or few artists with one or two tracks each, instead of multiple artists with only one or two tracks each. The LP (from "long playing" or "long play") is an analog sound storage medium, a phonograph record format characterized by: a speed of rpm; a 12- or 10-inch (30- or 25-cm) diameter; use of the "microgroove" groove specification; and a vinyl (a copolymer of vinyl chloride acetate) composition disk. The Compact Cassette or Musicassette (MC), also commonly called the tape cassette, cassette tape, audio cassette, or simply tape or cassette, is an analog magnetic tape recording format for audio recording and playback. CD-R (Compact disc-recordable) is a digital optical disc storage format. A CD-R disc is a compact disc that can be written once and read arbitrarily many times. CD-R discs (CD-Rs) are readable by most CD readers manufactured prior to the introduction of CD-R, unlike CD-RW discs. Safe Amplification Site Society
The Safe Amplification Site Society, also known as Safe Amp or SASS is a non-profit organization that promotes the legitimacy of music and arts within Vancouver for participants of all ages. Safe Amp is a member-based organization, and relies on donations for funding. Many of the directors of Safe Amp are prominent musicians in the Vancouver community, including co-founder and general director Ryan McCormick of Collapsing Opposites and They Shoot Horses, Don't They?. The organization was created with inspiration from such organizations as Seattle's The Vera Project and The Smell in Los Angeles. A key initiative for Safe Amp has been establishing a "permanent, legal, alcohol-free, all-ages space for music and arts events" in Vancouver. Music Waste
Music Waste is an annual music, art, and comedy festival held in Vancouver, British Columbia, Canada. History It began in 1994 as a protest against the entry fees of the corporate-sponsored New Music West festival. Since the initial one night stand against the corporate-sponsored New Music West festival, Music Waste has become an integral part of the Vancouver music scene, highlighting the most innovative and exciting bands of Vancouver and surrounding areas. To make the festival as accessible as possible, all of the shows cost a maximum of $5 and are held at venues within walking distance. From 2004 to 2008, Music Waste had been organized by Only, who also printed a festival guide featuring absurd, tongue-in-cheek write-ups about the bands performing. Western Front Society
Western Front (Western Front Society) is an artist-run centre located in Vancouver, British Columbia, Canada. It was founded in 1973 by eight artists (Martin Bartlett, Mo van Nostrand, Kate Craig, Henry Greenhow, Glenn Lewis, Eric Metcalfe, Michael Morris, Vincent Trasov ) who wanted to create a space for the exploration and creation of new art forms.
