Collaborative Combat Aircraft
In artificial intelligence (AI), collaborative combat aircraft (CCA) are robotic ''loyal wingmen'' such as the Boeing MQ-28 Ghost Bat, Kratos XQ-58 Valkyrie, General Dynamics X-62 VISTA, or the entrants in the Skyborg Vanguard program. The uncrewed CCAs represent a class of aircraft which are meant to collaborate with the crewed Next Generation Air Dominance (NGAD) aircraft. Heather Penney has advocated for proactive development of autonomous loyal wingmen (that is, collaborative combat aircraft),Heather Penney](September 2022) Five Imperatives for Developing Collaborative Combat Aircraft for Teaming Operations MITCHELL INSTITUTE Policy Paper 38 Sep 2022. 40 pages, and human pilots who are flying separately in manned aircraft (also called ''crewed-uncrewed teaming'', or ''manned-unmanned teaming'')Heather Penney](2 Dec 2022) Crewed-Uncrewed Teaming"The 5 Keys to Achieving Highly Collaborative Combat Aircraft" #Create concepts that will maximize the strengths of both CCA and piloted ...

Boeing MQ-28 Ghost Bat
The Boeing MQ-28 Ghost Bat, previously known as the Boeing Airpower Teaming System (ATS) and the Loyal Wingman project, is a stealth, multirole, unmanned aerial vehicle in development by Boeing Australia for the Royal Australian Air Force (RAAF). It is designed as a force multiplier aircraft capable of flying alongside manned aircraft for support and performing autonomous missions independently using artificial intelligence. Development The Ghost Bat is an unmanned aircraft, with a current planned introduction date in 2024-25, which incorporates artificial intelligence and utilises a modular mission package system in the nose where the entire nose of the aircraft can be removed and quickly swapped for another nose with a different set of equipment or armaments for various missions including combat, force reconnaissance and electronic warfare. One role will be to support and protect manned Royal Australian Air Force (RAAF) aircraft, such as the F-35A, F/A-18F, E-7A, and KC-30A ...
