Colinet, Newfoundland And Labrador
Colinet is an incorporated town located on the northwest arm of St. Mary's Bay in Newfoundland and Labrador, Canada. Geography Colinet is notable for two rivers, the Rocky and the Colinet, which enter the sea in or near the town. The Rocky River has a man-made salmon ladder spanning the waterfalls at its mouth. Originally not a salmon river because of those falls, the river was seeded with salmon fry in the mid-1980s. The salmon began using the man-made ladder to bypass the falls in 1987. In 2002, the river opened to recreational anglers, making it Atlantic Canada's newest salmon river. Colinet De Lannoy
Colinet de Lannoy (died before 6 February 1497) was a French composer of the Renaissance. He was one of the composers/singers working at the Milan chapel at the time of the assassination of Duke Galeazzo Maria Sforza in 1476, and he possibly also worked in France. Life Very little is known for certain about his life, and some details have been confused with other musicians named "Lannoy" or "Lanoy". Marie Colinet
Marie Colinet (Fabry) (ca. 1560 - after 1638) was a midwife and surgeon who introduced the use of heat for dilating and stimulating the uterus during labor. In addition, she performed caesarian sections successfully, and also was the first person to use a magnet to extract a piece of metal from a patient's eye. Background Marie Colinet was born in Geneva, Republic of Geneva in the 1560s, the daughter of a Genevan printer. Her work spanned the late 16th and early 17th centuries. She was originally a midwife in Geneva. On July 25, 1587, at St. Gervais church in Geneva, she married a surgeon, Wilhelm Fabry (also William Fabry, Guilelmus Fabricius Hildanus, or Fabricius von Hilden, b. June 25, 1560, d. February 15, 1634, often called the "Father of German surgery"). Wilhelm Fabry became Germany's foremost 17th-century surgeon and a prolific author of medical treatises.
