Colin White (cricketer)
Colin Derek White (4 April 1937 – 27 February 2012) was an English first-class cricketer. Born at Chiswick in April 1937, White later attended Cranleigh School, where he played for the school cricket team. After leaving Cranleigh, he went up to the University of Cambridge. It was there that he made his debut in first-class cricket for Cambridge University Cricket Club against Surrey at Fenner's in 1958. In his sixth match of 1958 against the touring New Zealanders, White was hit in the mouth by a delivery from Bob Blair. However, two weeks later he was back playing, making a further nine first-class appearances in 1958. Thereafter, he only appeared sporadically in 1958 and 1959, making seven further appearances. White made a total of 22 first-class appearances for the university, scoring a total of 549 runs at an average of just 14.83. Colin Saunders White (28 August 1951 – 25 December 2008) was a British military historian, director of the Royal Naval Museum from 2006 until his death and one of Britain's leading experts on Admiral Horatio Nelson and the Battle of Trafalgar. Personal life The elder of two boys born to a chartered electrical engineer and a former Wren, he moved with his family from South London to Frinton-on-Sea, Essex, at a young age. Educated at Culford School, Bury St. Edmunds, he attended Southampton University, where he took his bachelor's degree in history in 1974, and King's College, London, where he took an M.A. in war studies in 1975. Despite being profoundly deaf and asthmatic, White was a long-standing member of the Southsea Shakespeare Actors and a popular after-dinner speaker. Colin White (born December 12, 1977) is a Canadian former professional ice hockey player. He previously played with the New Jersey Devils and the San Jose Sharks of the NHL. Early life White was born and raised in New Glasgow, Nova Scotia. Playing career White played Midget hockey for the Weeks Major Midget AAA in New Glasgow, Nova Scotia, before being drafted 49th overall in the 1996 NHL Entry Draft by the New Jersey Devils. In 1997, White won the Memorial Cup with the Hull Olympiques. During the 2000–2001 season, White put up 20 points, helping the Devils to the Stanley Cup finals. During the 2007–2008 pre-season, White suffered a serious eye injury. Colin Andrew White (born January 30, 1997) is an American professional ice hockey center who is currently playing for the Florida Panthers of the National Hockey League (NHL). He was originally selected by the Ottawa Senators in the first round, 21st overall, in the 2015 NHL Entry Draft. Early life White was born on January 30, 1997, in Hanover, Massachusetts to parents Mark and Christine. His father played collegiate football and track and field at Georgia Tech while his mother played tennis at Florida State University. He began ice skating after his sister had her eighth birthday party at an ice rink. Growing up, he rooted for the Pittsburgh Penguins and his favorite player was Mario Lemieux.
