Colin Evans (20 November 1936 – 23 November 1992) was a Welsh dual-code international rugby union, and professional rugby league footballer who played in the 1950s, 1960s and 1970s. He played representative level rugby union (RU) for Wales, and at club level for Blaenavon RFC, Tredegar RFC, Newport RFC and Pontypool RFC, as a scrum-half, and representative level rugby league (RL) for Wales and Rest of the World, and at club level for Leeds, York and Keighley (captain), as a . and at club level was assistant coach at Keighley. Blaenavon
Blaenavon ( cy, Blaenafon) is a town and community (Wales), community in Torfaen county borough, Wales, high on a hillside on the source of the Afon Lwyd. The 1961–62 Northern Rugby Football League season was the 67th season of rugby league football. Season summary Huddersfield won their seventh Championship when they beat Wakefield Trinity 14-5 in the play-off final. The Challenge Cup winners were Wakefield Trinity who beat Huddersfield 12-6 in the final. At the end of this season the league was split into two divisions. The top 16 in the league formed Division 1 and the bottom 14 formed Division 2. Wigan won the Lancashire League, and Wakefield Trinity won the Yorkshire League. Wakefield Trinity is a professional rugby league club in Wakefield, West Yorkshire, England, that plays in the Super League. One of the original twenty-two clubs that formed the Northern Rugby Football Union in 1895, between 1999 and 2016 the club was known as Wakefield Trinity Wildcats. Odsal Stadium in Bradford, West Yorkshire, England, is the home of Bradford Bulls Rugby League team. The Rugby Football League Championship First Division was the top division of rugby league in England between 1895 and 1996, when it was replaced by the Super League. Warrington Wolves
The Warrington Wolves are a professional rugby league club based in Warrington, England, that competes in the Super League. They play rugby at the Halliwell Jones Stadium, having moved there from Wilderspool in 2004. Founded as Warrington Zingari Football Club in 1876, they are one of the original twenty-two clubs that formed the Northern Rugby Football Union in 1895 and the only one that has played every season in the top flight. Try (rugby)
A try is a way of scoring points in rugby union and rugby league football. A try is scored by grounding the ball in the opposition's in-goal area (on or behind the goal line). Rugby union and league differ slightly in defining "grounding the ball" and the "in-goal" area. In rugby union a try is worth 5 points, in rugby league a try is worth 4 points. The term "try" comes from "try at goal", signifying that grounding the ball originally only gave the attacking team the opportunity to try to score with a kick at goal. A try is analogous to a touchdown in American and Canadian football, with the major difference being that a try requires the ball be simultaneously touching the ground and an attacking player, whereas a touchdown merely requires that the ball enter the end zone while in the possession of a player. The France national rugby league team represent France in international rugby league matches. They are referred to as ''les Chanticleers'' or less commonly as ''les Tricolores''. The team is run under the auspices of the Fédération Française de Rugby à XIII. The French rugby league team first played in 1934 on a tour of England. They have taken part in all World Cups, 16 in total, with the first being held in 1954 in France. They have never won the title but finished runners-up in both 1954 and 1968. These are often considered the glory years of French rugby league as from the 1950s to the 1970s the team were strong and regularly beat Australia, New Zealand and Great Britain.
