Colin Alexander
Colin Alexander (12 April 1970) is a former Australian rules footballer who was recruited from the Clarence Football Club in Tasmania to play in the Victorian Football League. He played 24 games for Collingwood between 1989 and 1991, and after a lack of opportunities and injuries at Collingwood, he moved to the Brisbane Bears and played five games from 1992 to 1993. His best VFL/AFL season was his debut season, 1989. He played 14 games and kicked 18 goals, with his best game being a career high four goals in a round 6 match against Melbourne at the MCG. Due to injuries his career was shortened but he would later return to the Clarence Football Club and star in the Tasmanian Football League for many years in the mid to late 1990s. Clarence Football Club
The Clarence Football Club, nicknamed ''The Kangaroos'' (and usually referred to as simply "The Roos"), is an Australian rules football club playing in the Tasmanian State League, based in Bellerive, Tasmania. Before 1947, they existed as Bellerive Football Club. 1988 VFL Draft
The 1988 VFL draft, held on the 9th of November 1988, was the third annual national draft held by the VFL/AFL, Victorian Football League (now known as the Australian Football League). It consisted of a pre-season draft and a national draft. In 1988 there were 112 picks to be drafted between 14 teams in the national draft. Australian football, also called Australian rules football or Aussie rules, or more simply football or footy, is a contact sport played between two teams of 18 players on an oval field, often a modified cricket ground. Points are scored by kicking the oval ball between the central goal posts (worth six points), or between a central and outer post (worth one point, otherwise known as a "behind"). Brisbane Bears
The Brisbane Football Club, nicknamed the Bears, was a professional Australian rules football club based in Queensland on the Gold Coast (relocated to Brisbane in 1993). The club participated in the Victorian/Australian Football League (VFL/AFL) between 1987 and 1996, and entered the league as the first of two non-Victorian expansion teams. The Tasmanian State League (TSL), colloquially known as the "Tasmanian Football League (TFL)" (formerly known as the "Tasmanian Australian National Football League (TANFL)" and several other short-term names) is the highest ranked Australian rules football league in Tasmania, Australia. The Glenorchy District Football Club is an Australian rules football club currently playing in the Tasmanian State League and the Southern Football League in Tasmania, Australia. History The club is nicknamed the Magpies after its black and white playing strip, and was originally known as New Town Football Club (wearing a green and white strip) when it started out as a member of the Tasmanian Football League in 1919.
