Cohansey Township, New Jersey
Cohansey Township was a township that existed in Cumberland County, New Jersey, United States, during two separate periods, from 1697 to 1748 and from 1848 to 1865. The name was derived from the Cohansey River, which flows through the area. The first Cohansey Township was mentioned dating back to May 12, 1697, while the area was still part of Salem County. Hopewell Township is a township in Cumberland County, in the U.S. state of New Jersey. It is part of the Vineland- Bridgeton metropolitan statistical area for statistical purposes. As of the 2020 United States census, the township's population was 4,391, a decrease of 180 (−3.9%) from the 2010 census count of 4,571, which in turn reflected an increase of 137 (+3.1%) from the 4,434 counted in the 2000 census. Hopewell Township was first formed as a precinct on January 19, 1748, and was incorporated by an act of the New Jersey Legislature on February 21, 1798, as one of New Jersey's initial group of 104 townships.
