Baron Fredegandus (Fredegand) Patricius Josephus Maria Cogels (14 April 1850 – 17 February 1932) was a Belgian politician and a member of the Meeting party. He was governor of the province of Antwerp from 16 December 1900 until 28 May 1907 and for a short while after World War I in 1918. Joseph Charles Cogels
Joseph Charles Cogels, (sometimes called Cogels Mabilde,) a landscape and marine painter, was born at Brussels in 1786. He studied at the Academy of Düsseldorf; and, after spending some time in France, returned to the area that is now Belgium in 1806, and was admitted a member of the Royal Society of the Fine Arts at Ghent. In 1810 he went to Munich, where he was employed by the King and Queen and the Duke of Leuchtenberg in painting cabinet pictures for their private collections, and for the Gallery at Schleissheim. His paintings, which are principally landscapes, water-falls, and old monuments cf his native country, are held in high estimation. In the Cassel Gallery The Fridericianum is a museum in Kassel, Germany. Built in 1779, it is one of the oldest public museums in Europe.
