Coeursamba
Coeursamba (foaled 26 March 2018) is a French Thoroughbred racehorse. She showed high-class form as a juvenile in 2020 when she won one race and was placed in both the Prix Six Perfections and the Prix d'Aumale. In the following spring she took the Group 1 Poule d'Essai des Pouliches. Background Coeursamba is a bay filly with a white star and two white socks bred in France by Julie Mestrallet, Francine Mestrallet Mercier & Agathe Cousin. As a foal in December 2018 she was consigned to the Arqana Breeding Stock Sale at Deauville and bought for €24,000 by MAB Agency. She returned to the Deauville sales ring in August 2019 when she was sold for €40,000 to the trainer Jean-Claude Rouget. The filly was taken into training by Rouget and initially raced in the colours of Ecurie J L Tepper. Coeursamba has been ridden in all of her races by Cristian Demuro. The Poule d'Essai des Pouliches is a Group 1 flat horse race in France open to three-year-old thoroughbred fillies. It is run over a distance of 1,600 metres (about 1 mile) at Longchamp in May. It is France's equivalent of the 1000 Guineas run in Britain. History Origins The Poule d'Essai, an event for three-year-old colts and fillies, was established in France in 1840. It was inspired by two races in England, the 2000 Guineas (for colts and fillies) and the 1,000 Guineas (for fillies only). The race was initially staged at the Champ de Mars. The Wow Signal
The Wow Signal (27 February 2012 – March 2018) was an Irish-bred, British-trained Thoroughbred racehorse and sire. He raced only as a juvenile in 2014 when he won his first three races including the Coventry Stakes and the Prix Morny. He ran poorly on his only subsequent start and was retired to stud duty. He had fertility problems and sired relatively few foals before dying at the age of six. Background The Wow Signal was a bay horse with a small white star and three white socks bred in Ireland by Tommy Stack. At the Tattersalls Ireland sale in September 2013 the yearling was put up for auction and sold for €13,000 to the Lynn Lodge Stud. The Prix d'Aumale is a Group 3 flat horse race in France open to two-year-old thoroughbred fillies. It is run at Chantilly over a distance of 1,600 metres (about 1 mile), and it is scheduled to take place each year in September. History The earliest version of the Prix d'Aumale was established in 1835. It was staged at Chantilly until the end of the July Monarchy in 1848. The present event is named after Henri d'Orléans (1822–1897), who inherited the title Duc d'Aumale. Upon his death the Duc bequeathed his Chantilly estate, including the racecourse and the château, to the Institut de France. The modern Prix d'Aumale was introduced in 1921. Mother Earth (foaled 24 April 2018) is an Irish Thoroughbred racehorse. As a two-year old in 2020 she ran eight times, winning the Fillies' Sprint Stakes and finishing placed in the Albany Stakes, Airlie Stud Stakes, Debutante Stakes, Fillies' Mile and the Breeders' Cup Juvenile Fillies Turf. Chantilly Racecourse (In French: "Hippodrome de Chantilly") is a Thoroughbred turf racecourse for flat racing in Chantilly, Oise, France, about north of the centre of the city of Paris. Chantilly Racecourse is located in the country's main horse training area on 65 hectares next to the Chantilly Forest. A right-handed course, it was built with interlocking tracks. The main course is 2,400 metres long, with another at 2,150 metres, plus a round course adaptable from 1,400 to 2,400 metres.
