Coedpoeth United F.C.
Coedpoeth United Football Club are a association football, football club based in Coedpoeth, Wrexham County Borough. They currently play in the North East Wales Football League Premier Division. Early history The first football club in Coedpoeth was Lloftwen, of whom there are reports in January 1878. The next club in the village was Equitable who formed around 1880, and folded around 1884. Equitable entered the 1881–82 Welsh Cup, Welsh Cup in 1881. A club called Coedpoeth also existed at the same time and competed in the Welsh Cup from 1882–1884. Given that both these clubs seem to have appeared and disappeared at the same times, it is possible that they were the same club, using interchangeable names depending on the reporter. Coedpoeth
Coedpoeth () is a village and community in Wrexham County Borough, Wales. The built-up area with Minera had a population of 5,723 in the 2011 census. Locality Coedpoeth is on a hill between the Clywedog and Gwenfro valleys, surrounded by countryside with views of the Cheshire plain, Tanyfron, Southsea and the city of Wrexham. The highest point of the village is Rock Place at 800 feet (245 m) above sea-level. The neighbouring village of Bwlchgwyn is one of several claiming to be the highest village in Wales, at 1090 feet (333 m). The area is prone to snowfall, and has suffered localised flooding in recent years due to heavy rain. Welsh Water significantly invested in new drainage for the village in 2012, alleviating this problem. Wrexham A
Wrexham ( ; cy, Wrecsam; ) is a city and the administrative centre of Wrexham County Borough in Wales. It is located between the Welsh mountains and the lower Dee Valley, near the border with Cheshire in England. The Welsh National League (Wrexham Area) was a football league in Wales and operated at level 3 and 4 of the Welsh football league system in Flintshire and Wrexham County Borough, but with some teams from Denbighshire (Corwen and Llangollen Town) and Gwynedd (Llanuwchllyn). For sponsorship purposes it was last known as the ''Guy Walmsley & Co Welsh National League''. History The League grew out of the ''Wrexham and District League'' which ran during the early years of the twentieth century. At that time the senior clubs in the Wrexham area played in English leagues such as The Combination and the Birmingham & District League.
