Coedffranc West
Coedffranc West is an electoral ward of Neath Port Talbot county borough, Wales. As of May 2022, it is represented by two councillors from the Welsh Liberal Democrats. Coedffranc West is bounded by the wards of Llansamlet and Bonymaen of Swansea to the west; Coedffranc Central and Coedffranc North to the north; and Briton Ferry West to the east. It is bounded to the south by Swansea Bay. Coedffranc West consists of some or all of the following areas: Coed Darcy, Crymlyn Bog, Crymlyn Burrows, Jersey Marine, Llandarcy and Skewen. Much of the south-western part of this ward is perceived to be in Swansea by the local people of Neath and Swansea. Coedffranc West was an electoral ward of West Glamorgan until 4 May 1989, when Coedffranc Central and Coedffranc West became a Coedffranc ward under ''The County of West Glamorgan (Electoral Arrangements) Order 1989''. Neath Port Talbot ( cy, Castell-nedd Port Talbot) is a Local government in Wales#Principal areas, county borough in the South West Wales, south-west of Wales. Its principal towns are Neath, Port Talbot, Briton Ferry and Pontardawe. Crymlyn Bog
Crymlyn Bog ( cy, Cors Crymlyn) is a nature reserve and a designated Site of Special Scientific Interest of international significance, near Swansea, south Wales. It is the largest area of lowland fen in Wales and lies immediately to the eastern side of Kilvey Hill just north of the industrial area of Crymlyn Burrows. Plantlife found in the bog is more typical of that found in East Anglia. Habitats range from swamps, carr (fen), water meadows and tall reed beds to waterlogged scrub consisting mainly of willow, where wetter areas merge with woodland. There are a number of plants found in the wetland that are rare in Great Britain. Examples of these include the slender cotton grass and lesser water plantain. In 2003, surveys of Crymlyn Bog, Pant-y-Sais Fen and the inter-connecting wetlands identified the area as one of only three locations in the UK at which the fen raft spider is found. 2017 Neath Port Talbot County Borough Council Election
An election to Neath Port Talbot County Borough Council was held on 4 May 2017 as part of wider local elections across Wales. The election was preceded by the 2012 election. The fifth election to the Neath Port Talbot County Borough Council was held on 3 May 2012. It was preceded by the 2008 election and will be followed by the 2017 election. Skewen
Skewen ( cy, Sgiwen) is a village within the county borough of Neath Port Talbot, in Wales. The village is served by Skewen railway station and has its own rugby club. History Skewen was once an industrial village. There were a number of collieries around the village (see link below). The Crown and Mines Royal Copper Works and the Cheadle and Neath Abbey Ironworks were once important industrial sites which stood close by. Old top-loading blast furnaces can also be seen at Neath Abbey. To the south of Skewen lies the village of Llandarcy, the site of the country's first oil refinery. Llandarcy is a village near Neath in the Neath Port Talbot county borough, Wales, and was the site of the Llandarcy Oil Refinery, first oil refinery in the United Kingdom.
