Queens County, New Brunswick
Queens County (french: Comté de Queens; 2016 population 10,472) is located in central New Brunswick, Canada. The county shire town is the village of Gagetown. Geography The county's geography is dominated by the Saint John River and Grand Lake. Coal mining is a major industry in the Minto area. Forestry and mixed farming dominate the rest of the county. The CFB Gagetown military training area takes in a large portion of the western part of the county. United Empire Loyalist
United Empire Loyalists (or simply Loyalists) is an honorific title which was first given by the 1st Lord Dorchester, the Governor of Quebec, and Governor General of The Canadas, to American Loyalists who resettled in British North America during or after the American Revolution. At the time, the demonym ''Canadian'' or ''Canadien'' was used to refer to the indigenous First Nations groups and the descendants of New France settlers inhabiting the Province of Quebec. They settled primarily in Nova Scotia and the Province of Quebec. The influx of loyalist settlers resulted in the creation of several new colonies. In 1784, New Brunswick was partitioned from the Colony of Nova Scotia after significant loyalist resettlement around the Bay of Fundy. The influx of loyalist refugees also resulted in the Province of Quebec's division into Lower Canada (present-day Quebec), and Upper Canada (present-day Ontario) in 1791. Judson Hetherington
Judson Egbert Hetherington (May 15, 1866 – January 29, 1928) was a physician and political figure in New Brunswick, Canada. He represented Queen's County in the Legislative Assembly of New Brunswick from 1917 to 1925 as a Liberal. He was born in Codys, New Brunswick, the son of Thomas Hetherington and Violet D. Thorne. He studied medicine at the Chicago Homeopathic Medical College and Rush Medical College. In 1894, he married Anna H. Lancey. In 1906, he retired from medicine and returned to New Brunswick. Hetherington was a prominent freemason. He served as Speaker of the Legislative Assembly of New Brunswick from 1919 to 1920 and as Provincial Secretary-Treasurer (Minister of Finance) from 1921 to 1925, when he was defeated. His widow established the Judson E.
