Codi Heuer
Codi Dalton Heuer (born July 3, 1996) is an American professional baseball pitcher for the Chicago Cubs of Major League Baseball (MLB). He played college baseball at Wichita State University. He previously played for the Chicago White Sox. He made his MLB debut in 2020. Amateur career Heuer was born and raised in Missoula, Montana, before moving to Fort Collins, Colorado before he began high school. Following the move, he attended Fossil Ridge High School in Fort Collins. In 2015, his senior year, he threw a complete game shutout in which he struck out 17 batters, a school record. He went undrafted in the 2015 Major League Baseball draft, and enrolled at Wichita State University where he played college baseball for the Shockers. In baseball, the pitcher is the player who throws ("pitches") the baseball from the pitcher's mound toward the catcher to begin each play, with the goal of retiring a batter, who attempts to either make contact with the pitched ball or draw a walk. 2018 Major League Baseball Draft
The 2018 Major League Baseball (MLB) First-Year Player Draft began on June 4, 2018. The draft assigned amateur baseball players to MLB teams. The draft order was determined based on the reverse order of the 2017 MLB season final standings. In addition, compensation picks were distributed for players who did not sign from the 2017 MLB Draft and for teams who lose qualifying free agents. Ulnar collateral ligament reconstruction, colloquially known as Tommy John surgery (TJS), is a surgical graft procedure where the ulnar collateral ligament in the medial elbow is replaced with either a tendon from elsewhere in the patient's body, or with one from a deceased donor. The 2020 season was the Chicago White Sox' 121st season in Chicago and 120th in the American League. The Sox played their home games at Guaranteed Rate Field. On March 12, 2020, MLB announced that because of the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic, the start of the regular season would be delayed by at least two weeks in addition to the remainder of spring training being cancelled. The Birmingham Barons are a Minor League Baseball team based in Birmingham, Alabama.
