Code4Lib Journal
The ''Code4Lib Journal'' is a quarterly journal that publishes articles about libraries and technology. It was founded by the Code4Lib community in 2007. Code4Lib publishes under a US CC-BY licence. Code4Lib Journal is also open peer reviewed. History The "hacker librarian" culture of the early 2000s led to an active community of library technologists: Code4Lib. In December 2007, the first issue of ''Code4Lib'' journal was published as an experiment to supplement this Code4Lib community. The journal's audience is "generally those working as technologists in libraries. Articles are often of a practical nature, describing coding behind projects and often providing samples of code or project architecture." The Code4lib Journal was mostly published quarterly until 2020. Due to the pandemic and other social factors it has been published three times each in 2020, and 2021, respectively. Library and information science(s) or studies (LIS) is an interdisciplinary field of study that deals generally with organization, access, collection, and protection/regulation of information, whether in physical (e.g. art, legal proceedings, etc.) or digital forms. In spite of various trends to merge the two fields, some consider the two original disciplines, library science and information science, to be separate. However, it is common today to use the terms synonymously or to drop the term "library" and to speak about ''information departments'' or ''I-schools''. A Creative Commons (CC) license is one of several public copyright licenses that enable the free distribution of an otherwise copyrighted "work".A "work" is any creative material made by a person. A painting, a graphic, a book, a song/lyrics to a song, or a photograph of almost anything are all examples of "works". A CC license is used when an author wants to give other people the right to share, use, and build upon a work that the author has created. Council Of Science Editors
The Council of Science Editors (CSE), formerly the Council of Biology Editors (CBE; 1965–2000) and originally the Conference of Biology Editors (CBE; 1957–1965), is a United States-based nonprofit organization that supports editorial practice among scientific writers. In 2008, the CSE adopted the slogan "CSE: Education, Ethics, and Evidence for Editors (E4)". A volunteer board of directors leads the Council, with the assistance of several committees. CSE is managed by Kellen Company, located in Wheat Ridge, Colorado. The Directory of Open Access Journals (DOAJ) is a website that hosts a community-curated list of open access journals, maintained by Infrastructure Services for Open Access (IS4OA). It was launched in 2003 with 300 open access journals. The project defines open access journals as scientific and scholarly journals making all their content available for free, without delay or user-registration requirement, and meeting high quality standards, notably by exercising peer review or editorial quality control. DOAJ defines those as open access journals where an open license is used so that any user is allowed immediate free access to the works published in the journal and is permitted to read, download, copy, distribute, print, search, or link to the full texts of hearticles, or use them for any other lawful purpose.
