Cockburn City SC
Cockburn City Soccer Club is an Australian soccer club currently playing in the National Premier Leagues Western Australia. They play their home games at Dalmatinac Park and train at Beale Park. History Cockburn City Soccer Club's origin goes back to 1929 when they were known as Spearwood Rovers, and after the 1964 season they amalgamated with Britannia (who had renamed a year earlier from Fremantle City) to become Cockburn United. A few months earlier, some of the Spearwood Rovers club had joined forces with Balkans Dalmatinac, to create Fremantle Dalmatinac (who were renamed Spearwood Dalmatinac in 1974). The two clubs enjoyed success in the period after, with facilities close to each other at Dalmatinac Park and Beale Park. The clubs reunited in 1998 under the negotiations of Angelko Petkovich and John Mijacika and became Cockburn City Soccer Club. The National Premier Leagues Western Australia is a regional Australian semi-professional soccer league comprising teams from Western Australia. The league name is often abbreviated to NPL Western Australia or NPL WA. As a subdivision of the National Premier Leagues, the league is the highest level of the Western Australian league system (Level 2 of the overall Australian league system). The competition is administered by Football West, the governing body of the sport in the state. Football West
Football West is the state governing and censoring body for soccer in Western Australia (WA). It is affiliated with Football Australia (FA), the sport's national governing body, and through FA's affiliation to FIFA. Football West's premier competition is the National Premier Leagues (NPL) WA, which is the highest league in WA and one tier below the national A-League. NPL WA is a division within the National Premier Leagues. Jason Petkovic
Jason Petkovic (born 7 December 1972 in Perth, Western Australia) is an Australian football (soccer) player. He is the brother of Michael Petkovic. Club career He played as a goalkeeper for the Australian A-League club Perth Glory where he has won two championships with them in 2003 and 2004. Petkovic has also had trials with Southampton F.C. and Norway's Rosenborg BK before joining NSL outfit Adelaide City in 1993. A broken leg sustained during a match against the Central Coast Mariners has ended his A-League 2006-07 season and possibly his career. However, in Round 19 of the A-League 2007-08 season he made a return to Perth against the Central Coast Mariners which ended in a 1-1 draw showing good signs of his recovery. Robert Zabica
Robert Zabica (born 9 April 1964 in Spearwood, Western Australia) is an Australian former goalkeeper. Zabica represented the Australian national team 28 times in 'A' international matches and also represented Western Australia. Playing career Zabica started his career with Cockburn City before joining Adelaide City for seven seasons, winning National Soccer League (NSL) championships in 1992 and 1994. He played for Australia in the qualifiers for the 1994 FIFA World Cup finals, losing narrowly to Argentina. A nagging knee injury forced his international retirement, but he made a comeback in 1995 with Dalmatinac with whom he won the D'Orsogna Cup. He made his State debut at the age of 31, captaining the side that beat West Ham United in 1995, and went on to play a further five times for Western Australia. David Tarka
David Tarka (born 11 February 1983 in Perth, Western Australia) is a retired Australian association footballer, who played two games for the national team. Club career Tarka was an Australian youth international and was an Australian schoolboy international in 1999. Tarka helped the Australia under 20 team qualify for the 2003 World Youth Championships in the UAE and played in the Australia under 23 team's 2004 Olympic Games Qualifiers. Tarka turned down a chance for a trial at West Ham in April 2003, instead staying in Australia to help Perth Glory win the NSL championship. The overall premier for the new structure qualified for the National Premier Leagues finals series, competing with the other state federation champions in a final knockout tournament to decide the National Premier Leagues Champion for 2014.
