Cobán Imperial
Club Social y Deportivo Cobán Imperial, nicknamed ''Los Príncipes Azules'' ("The Blue Princes"), is a Guatemalan football club based in Cobán, Alta Verapaz. They compete in the Liga Nacional, the top tier of Guatemalan football. They play their home games in the Estadio Verapaz. It's one of the traditional clubs of Guatemala, the club became league champions for the first time in 2004, when they defeated Municipal in the Clausura tournament final. The club was relegated from Liga Mayor after losing a play-off to Zacapa and spent 2007 until 2014 in the Primera División Group "A" or "B". Following a win over Mictlán in May 2015, Coban was promoted to the Liga Mayor where they currently play. - RSSSF History It was founded in 1924 participating for many years in the lower league. Minor Jesús Álvarez Cordero, known as Minor Álvarez (born 14 November 1989) is a Costa Rican professional footballer who plays as a goalkeeper for Liga Nacional club Cobán Imperial. Club career Álvarez played for Saprissa and had loan spells at Belén Siglo XXI and Santos de Guápiles. Marvin Amarini Villatoro de León (born May 6, 1985) is a Guatemalan football coach. He is the current manager of Liga Nacional club Xelajú. Coaching career In 2006, Villatoro joined the coaching staff at Costa Rican club Pérez Zeledón. In 2008, Villatoro achieved promotion to the Guatemalan Segunda División de Ascenso with Los Potros del Tecnológico. In 2009, Villatoro was appointed manager of Sayaxché, helping to the club gain promotion to the Primera División de Ascenso during his time at the club. Following his time at Sayaxché, Villatoro managed Cobán Imperial, Deportivo Carchá and Deportivo Jocotán. In May 2016, Villatoro was appointed manager at Guastatoya. Julio César "''El Pocho''" Cortés Lagos (born 29 March 1941) is an Uruguayan football coach and former midfielder who participated in three World Cups with the Uruguay national team.
