Coburg Tigers Football Club
The Coburg Football Club, nicknamed the Coburg Lions, is an Australian rules football club based in Coburg, a northern suburb of Melbourne, and currently playing in the Victorian Football League (VFL). It is based at Coburg City Oval since 1915, which was partly redeveloped in 2020. Coburg has historically been a proud club and has won 6 VFA/VFL premierships with the most recent premiership in 1989. From 2001 to 2013 the club was aligned with the Richmond Football Club in the Australian Football League (AFL), acting as its reserves team. 1925 VFL Season
The 1925 VFL season was the 29th season of the Victorian Football League (VFL), the highest level senior Australian rules football competition in Victoria. The league expanded to twelve clubs, with , and all newly admitted from the VFA to increase the league's size to its highest since its inception. The season ran from 2 May until 10 October, and comprised a 17-game home-and-away season followed by a finals series featuring the top four clubs. The premiership was won by the Geelong Football Club for the first time, after it defeated by ten points in the 1925 VFL Grand Final. Fitzroy Football Club
The Fitzroy Football Club is an Australian rules football club currently competing in the Victorian Amateur Football Association (VAFA). Formed in 1883 to represent the inner-Melbourne municipality of Fitzroy, the club was a member of the Victorian Football Association (VFA), before becoming a foundation member of the breakaway Victorian Football League (VFL/AFL) in 1897. Fitzroy won a total of eight VFL premierships, of which seven (1898, 1899, 1904, 1905, 1913, 1916 and 1922) were won whilst they were nicknamed the Maroons and one (1944) as the Gorillas. Alex Jesaulenko
Oleksandr "Alex" Jesaulenko ( ; uk, Олександр Васильович Єсауленко, Oleksandr Vasiliovych Yesaulenko, ; born 2 August 1945) is a former Australian rules footballer and who played for the Carlton Football Club and the St Kilda Football Club in the Victorian Football League (1897–1989), Victorian Football League (VFL). He also served as a coach at both clubs. Jesaulenko is a Legend of the Australian Football Hall of Fame, and as a player was known for his versatility, uncanny balance and spectacular marking. Phil Cleary
Philip Ronald Cleary (born 8 December 1952) is an Australian commentator on politics and sport, particularly Australian rules football, and a former independent politician elected at the 1992 Wills by-election. Football playing career Cleary first came to notice as a prominent player and coach in Victoria's second-level Australian rules football competition, the Victorian Football Association, for the Coburg Football Club. He debuted with the club in 1975, playing 205 games—second only to Dave Starbuck in Coburg club history—and kicking 317 goals. He was a member of the 1979 premiership side and losing 1980 side. Peter Reville
Peter Reville (born Henry James Reville; 5 October 1904 – 4 March 1970) was an Australian rules footballer who played with South Melbourne and Fitzroy in the Victorian Football League (VFL). VFL career Considered a first class follower and half-forward of the best utility players in the VFL, he was an excellent high mark and long kick and a determined player with a good turn of pace. As a half-forward flanker he was one of the best in the 1933 flag win. Reville debuted for South Melbourne in 1925, and appeared for the club 156 times before leaving. Reville's last game with the southerners was the premiership play-off of the following year when his admirable all round performance as a half forward-cum-follower was insufficient to prevent the Tigers achieving their revenge. North Melbourne Football Club
The North Melbourne Football Club, nicknamed the Kangaroos, is a professional Australian rules football club. The men's team competes in the Australian Football League (AFL), and the women's team in the AFL Women's (AFLW). The Kangaroos also field a reserves men's team in the Victorian Football League (VFL). The City of Coburg was a local government area about north of Melbourne, the state capital of Victoria, Australia. The city covered an area of , and existed from 1859 until 1994. The 1965 Victorian Football Association season was the 84th season of the top division of the Australian rules football competition, and the fifth season of its second division. The Sandringham Football Club, nicknamed The Zebras, is an Australian rules football club based in Melbourne which was formed in 1929 and plays in the Victorian Football League (VFL) which was formerly called the Victorian Football Association (VFA). Ron Todd (footballer)
Ronald Walford Todd (23 October 1916 – 8 February 1991) was an Australian rules footballer who played for the Collingwood Football Club in the Victorian Football League (VFL) and the Williamstown Football Club in the Victorian Football Association (VFA). Renowned for his high marking and goalkicking ability, Todd was considered as the logical successor to the legendary Gordon Coventry, but his controversial move to Williamstown, along with teammate and friend Des Fothergill, caused much bitterness at Collingwood for many years afterward. He holds the record for the most goals kicked in a VFA season (188), and his 23 goals in the 1939 VFL finals series stood as a record until it was broken by Gary Ablett Sr. in 1989.
