Coast Guard Air Station Astoria was established August 14, 1964 at Astoria Regional Airport in Warrenton, Oregon, United States. The unit houses 67 active duty, 24 reserve duty and one civilian personnel. The unit operates three Sikorsky MH-60 Jayhawk helicopters. According to a 2003 press release the unit's annual budget is $1,107,051. The unit's functions include search and rescue, law enforcement, aids to navigation support, and environmental protection. Air Station Astoria served as one of the filming locations for the movie ''The Guardian'' (2006). On April 28, 2017, the Coast Guard announced it would base two Sentinel-class cutters in Astoria, in 2021. Astoria Regional Airport
Astoria Regional Airport is a joint civil-military public airport in Warrenton, three miles southwest of Astoria, in Clatsop County, Oregon. The airport is owned by the Port of Astoria and is the home of Coast Guard Air Station Astoria. The airport has no airline flights. Flights to Portland International Airport were most recently provided by SeaPort Airlines from March 2008 until Spring of 2010. Until 1974-75 Astoria had flights on West Coast Airlines and its successors. Federal Aviation Administration records say the airport had 1,851 passenger boardings (enplanements) in calendar year 2008, 1,531 in 2009 and 3,482 in 2010. HH-3F Pelican
The Sikorsky S-61R is a twin-engine helicopter used in transport or search and rescue roles. A developed version of the S-61/SH-3 Sea King, the S-61R was also built under license by Agusta as the AS-61R. The Dassault Falcon 20 is a French business jet developed and manufactured by Dassault Aviation. The first business jet developed by the firm, it became the first of a family of business jets to be produced under the same name; of these, both the smaller Falcon 10 and the larger trijet Falcon 50 were direct derivatives of the Falcon 20. Sikorsky S-62
The Sikorsky HH-52 Seaguard (company designation S-62) was an early amphibious helicopter designed and produced by the American helicopter manufacturer Sikorsky Aircraft. It was the first of the company's amphibious rotorcraft to fly. The S-62 was originally developed as a commercial venture during the late 1950s. It combined the dynamic elements of the Sikorsky S-55 with a boat hull-shaped fuselage and a single lightweight turboshaft engine. The prototype S-62 conducted its maiden flight on 22 May 1958, powered by a single General Electric T58-GE-6 turboshaft engine. The Sentinel-class cutter, also known as Fast Response Cutter due to its program name, is part of the United States Coast Guard's Deepwater program. At it is similar to, but larger than the lengthened 1980s-era s that it replaces.
