François Legault
François Legault (; born May 26, 1957) is a Canadian politician serving as the 32nd premier of Quebec since 2018. A member of the Coalition Avenir Québec (CAQ), he has led the party since its founding in 2011. Legault sits as a member of the National Assembly (MNA) for the Lanaudière region riding of L'Assomption. Prior to entering politics, he was the co-founder of the Canadian airline Air Transat. Legault was a MNA from 1998 to 2009—serving in the governments of former premiers Lucien Bouchard and Bernard Landry—as the minister of education from 1998 to 2002 and as the minister of health from 2002 to 2003. He was a member of the Parti Québécois (PQ), first elected in the 1998 Quebec election in the riding of Rousseau. He was re-elected in 2003, 2007, and 2008 but resigned his seat on June 25, 2009. Autonomism is a political doctrine which supports acquiring or preserving political autonomy of a nation or a region. It is not necessarily opposed to federalism, and souverainism necessarily implies autonomism, but not vice versa. Lotbinière (provincial Electoral District)
Lotbinière is a former provincial electoral district in the Centre-du-Québec and Chaudière-Appalaches regions of Quebec, Canada. As of its final election, it included the municipalities of Lotbinière, Saint-Flavien, Lemieux, Laurierville, Saint-Antoine-de-Tilly, Sainte-Croix and Laurier-Station. It was created for the 1867 election (and an electoral district of that name existed earlier in the Legislative Assembly of the Province of Canada and the Legislative Assembly of Lower Canada). Its final election was in 2008. It disappeared in the 2012 election and the successor electoral districts were Lotbinière-Frontenac, Nicolet-Bécancour, and Arthabaska. Sylvie Roy
Sylvie Roy (November 4, 1964 – July 31, 2016) was a Canadian politician in Quebec and a Member of the National Assembly for the electoral district of Arthabaska. She previously represented the riding of Lotbinière from 2003 until 2012, initially as a member of the now-defunct Action démocratique du Québec (ADQ) until the merger of that party into the Coalition Avenir Québec (CAQ) in 2012. She left the CAQ to sit as an independent in 2015. She was awarded a law degree from Université Laval in 1987 and admitted to the Barreau du Québec in 1988. She was lawyer for 15 years including 12 years for mental health organizations in Mauricie. She served as mayor of Saint-Sophie-de-Lévrard from 1998 to 2003. François Rebello
François Rebello (born November 25, 1970) is a Canadian politician. Rebello is a former MNA in the province of Quebec. Rebello represented the riding of La Prairie in the National Assembly of Quebec in the 2008 provincial election, after an unsuccessful run in 2007. He was elected as a member of the Parti Québécois, but then joined the Coalition Avenir Québec. He was defeated in 2012. On January 9, 2012, he announced he was joining the Coalition Avenir Québec, citing his admiration for its leader, François Legault. He had stated his loyalty to the Parti Québécois' chief, Pauline Marois, a couple of weeks prior to his defection. He was the CAQ's fifth member of the National Assembly and the third to be a former member of the Parti Québécois. Marc Picard (born April 25, 1955) is a politician in the province of Quebec, Canada. He currently represents the Chutes-de-la-Chaudière district at the National Assembly of Quebec as a member of the CAQ. Born in Saint-Raphaël (Bellechasse), Quebec, Picard has a college diploma in business administration for the Cégep de Lévis-Lauzon and worked for the Quebec Ministry of Revenue for 25 years as a research officer. Éric Caire (born May 21, 1965) is a Canadian politician from Quebec, Canada, and the CAQ Member of the National Assembly for the electoral district of La Peltrie. Early career Caire was born in Sorel-Tracy, Quebec. He was the owner of a local business for one year and taught computer science at Collège François-Xavier-Garneau in Quebec City. Before his election, he was a computer-analyst for eight years including two with Cognicase. In 2004, he was also the host of a local community radio show at CIMI-FM. Political career Caire first attempted to enter politics in 2001 with a failed independent candidacy at the Quebec municipal elections in 2001. Daniel Ratthé (born 8 June 1956) is a politician in the Canadian province of Quebec, who was elected to represent the riding of Blainville in the National Assembly of Quebec in the 2008 provincial election. He is an Independent MNA and a former member of the CAQ as well as a former member of the Parti Québécois. From 1976 to 1984, Ratthé worked for various positions at several radio stations in Laval including CFGL-FM (now Rythme FM) and CIMO-FM. Benoit Charette (born July 19, 1976) is a Quebec politician elected in the 2008 provincial election for Deux-Montagnes. He was a member of the Parti Québécois, but left the party on June 21, 2011 to protest the party's focus on sovereignty. On December 19, 2011 he joined the Coalition Avenir Québec and is the current Minister of Sustainable Development and Environment. In 2021 he was assigned a new provincial role in combating racism.
