Cláudya
Maria das Graças Rallo (born 10 May 1948), known by her stage name Cláudya (), and formerly Cláudia and Cláudia Oliveira, is a Brazilian singer. Biography She debuted at age nine in a talent show at Radio Company of Juiz de Fora, where she grew up. At thirteen, she was a singer at many of the midnight feasts and dances of the region. She developed her career in São Paulo in the 60s, at the beginning, participating in the program O Fino da Bossa. In 1969, she won the Festival Song Fluminense, singing the song "Razão de Paz para Não Cantar" (Lage and Alesio Eduardo de Barros). She also participated in several festivals abroad, including Japan, Greece, Spain, Mexico, and Venezuela, becoming the most awarded singer outside Brazil. She excelled in the music scene in 1982 with the song "Don't Cry for Me Argentina" from the musical ''Evita''. She has recorded over twenty albums and has huge record sales. ''Evita'' is a musical with music by Andrew Lloyd Webber and lyrics by Tim Rice. It concentrates on the life of Argentine political leader Eva Perón, the second wife of Argentine president Juan Perón. The story follows Evita's early life, rise to power, charity work, and death. The musical began as a rock opera concept album released in 1976. Its success led to productions in London's West End in 1978, winning the Laurence Olivier Award for Best Musical, and on Broadway a year later, where it was the first British musical to receive the Tony Award for Best Musical. This has been followed by a string of professional tours and worldwide productions and numerous cast albums, as well as a 1996 film adaptation. "Don't Cry for Me Argentina" is a song recorded by Julie Covington for the 1976 concept album ''Evita'', later included in the 1978 musical of the same name. The song was written and composed by Andrew Lloyd Webber and Tim Rice while they were researching the life of Argentine leader Eva Perón. It appears at the opening of the first and second acts, as well as near the end of the show, initially as the spirit of the dead Eva exhorting the people of Argentina not to mourn her, during Eva's speech from the balcony of the Casa Rosada, and during her final broadcast. The ''Evita'' album had taken 3–4 months to record, since Rice was not satisfied with the intensity of the initial recordings. The song had a number of different titles before "Don't Cry for Me Argentina" was chosen as the final one. Bossa nova () is a style of samba developed in the late 1950s and early 1960s in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil. It is mainly characterized by a "different beat" that altered the harmonies with the introduction of unconventional chords and an innovative syncopation of traditional samba from a single rhythmic division. The "bossa nova beat" is characteristic of a samba style and not of an autonomous genre. According to the Brazilian journalist Ruy Castro, the bossa beat – which was created by the drummer Milton Banana – was "an extreme simplification of the beat of the samba school", as if all instruments had been removed and only the tamborim had been preserved. Paulo Sérgio Kostenbader Valle (born August 6, 1940) is a Brazilian composer and lyricist. Career Valle started his career as part of the bossa nova trend when, with his brother Marcos Valle, he composed " Samba de Verão", which became one of the three Brazilian songs to become global hits along with "The Girl from Ipanema" and "Aquarela do Brasil." After this, Valle went on to write lyrics for various other composers, becoming one of the most important lyricists in a number of genres. He also became a successful jingle-writer as well. Valle is also the lyricist, alongside Nelson Motta, to write the Christmas theme song for Rede Globo, with music by Marcos Valle and arrangements by Hugo Bellard. He also wrote the lyrics to the anthem of Goiás Esporte Clube. His music has been featured in Time, Austin Powers: The Spy Who Shagged Me, Repo Men, and in Brazilian soap opera Pigmalião 70.
