Clydesdale RFC was a nineteenth-century and early twentieth-century Glasgow-based rugby union club, who were attached to Clydesdale Cricket Club during the 1880s. Formation The rugby club was formed in 1889. For a short period before the First World War it was one of Scotland's most successful teams. By 1906 it could run 4 teams. The Scottish Rugby Union (SRU; gd, Aonadh Rugbaidh na h-Alba) is the governing body of rugby union in Scotland. Styled as Scottish Rugby, it is the second oldest Rugby Union, having been founded in 1873. The SRU oversees the national league system, known as the Scottish League Championship, and the Scottish National teams. The SRU is headed by the President ( Ian Barr) and Chairman (Colin Grassie), with Mark Dodson acting as the Chief Executive Officer. Dee Bradbury became the first female president of a Tier 1 rugby nation upon her appointment on 4 August 2018.
