Clutch Gaming
Clutch Gaming (CG) was an American esports organization owned by Dignitas and the Houston Rockets. It was one of four organizations that joined the ''League of Legends'' Championship Series (LCS) after the league began franchising in 2018, the others being 100 Thieves, the Golden Guardians and OpTic Gaming. Clutch Gaming was under the sole ownership of the Houston Rockets until June 6, 2019, when it was announced that the majority share in the franchise had been purchased by Dignitas and its parent company. Clutch Gaming completely merged with Dignitas on October 28, 2019. ''League of Legends'' (''LoL''), commonly referred to as ''League'', is a 2009 multiplayer online battle arena video game developed and published by Riot Games. Inspired by ''Defense of the Ancients'', a Mod (video games), custom map for Warcraft III: Reign of Chaos, ''Warcraft III'', Riot's founders sought to develop a stand-alone game in the same genre. The ''League of Legends'' division of Cloud9 (C9) is a gaming team based in Los Angeles, California, and competes in the League Championship Series (LCS), the top-level professional league for video game ''League of Legends'' in the United States and Canada. Unicorns of Love (UOL) is a professional esports organisation founded on 15 August 2013 and based in Hamburg, Germany. Its ''League of Legends'' team competes in the League of Legends Continental League, ''League of Legends'' Continental League (LCL), the Commonwealth of Independent States' top professional league for the game. The 2019 ''League of Legends'' World Championship was an esports tournament for the multiplayer online battle arena video game ''League of Legends''. It was the ninth iteration of the ''League of Legends'' World Championship, an annual international tournament organized by the game's developer, Riot Games. Counter Logic Gaming (CLG) is an American esports organization headquartered in Los Angeles, California. It was founded in April 2010 by George "HotshotGG" Georgallidis and Alexander "Vodoo" Beutel as a ''League of Legends'' team, and has since branched out into other games. Team Liquid is a multi-regional professional esports organization based in the Netherlands that was founded in 2000.
