Clube De Regatas Do Flamengo–Clube Atlético Mineiro Rivalry
The rivalry between Flamengo and Atlético Mineiro is a footballing rivalry played between Brazilian clubs Clube de Regatas do Flamengo, from Rio de Janeiro, and Clube Atlético Mineiro, from Belo Horizonte. The clubs first played against each other in 1929, but until regular competitions were introduced in Brazilian football in 1959, the encounters were played at friendly level, since they come from different states: Flamengo is from Rio de Janeiro, while Atlético Mineiro hails from Minas Gerais. The rivalry developed in the 1980s from numerous controversial encounters between the two clubs in that decade's Brasileirão and Copa Libertadores editions. 1937 Copa Dos Campeões Estaduais
The 1937 Copa dos Campeões Estaduais was an official tournament organized by the now defunct Brazilian Football Federation (FBF), and aimed to point the Brazilian champion at that time. It was the second time a state champions cup happened in Brazil. The competition brought together the 1936 champions of the state leagues of Rio de Janeiro, São Paulo, Campeonato Mineiro and Campeonato Capixaba, and was played in round-robin for points systems. The winning team was the Clube Atlético Mineiro. On 25 August 2023, the Brazilian Football Confederation (CBF) officially recognized the tournament as analogous to the Campeonato Brasileiro Série A, thus conferring to Atlético Mineiro the status of first national champions of Brazil. João Batista Nunes de Oliveira (born May 20, 1954 in Cedro de São João, SE), known as Nunes, is a former Brazilian football striker. He became a football player in 1969, at 14 years old, playing for Flamengo's youth team. Reject by the club in 1974, at 19, he left Rio de Janeiro towards Aracaju ( SE) to start his professional career at Confiança. His good performances granted him the 1976 Sergipe State Championship and a transference to Santa Cruz FC in the same year. There he won twice the Pernambuco State Championship (1976, 1978).
