Club Atlético Welcome or simply Welcome is an Uruguayan basketball club in Montevideo, member of the Uruguayan Basketball Federation. It was founded on 13 October 1926. ''Welcome'', recently promoted to the Uruguayan Basketball League (LUB) getting the second direct ascent in 2014. Its headquarters and metropolitan stage called "Estadio Oscar Magurno" is on the street Emilio Frugoni 924 corner Gonzalo Ramirez, in Parque Rodó neighborhood. History With nine titles to its credit, Club Atlético Welcome is one of the most successful basketball clubs in the country. Parque Rodó
Parque Rodó is both a ''barrio'' (neighbourhood or district) of Montevideo, Uruguay and a park which lies mostly outside the limits of the barrio itself and belongs to Punta Carretas. The name "Rodó" has been given in memory of José Enrique Rodó, an important Uruguayan writer whose monument is in the southern side of the main park. Greek Basket League
The Greek Basket League (GBL), often also referred to as the Greek A1 Basketball League, or Greek Basketball Championship (originally called Panhellenic Basketball Championship), and also known as the Stoiximan Basket League for sponsorship reasons, is the first tier level professional basketball league in Greece. It is run by HEBA ( el, ΕΣΑΚΕ, link=no), under the legal authority of the Hellenic Basketball Federation (E.O.K.). It is the highest-tier level of the Greek league system. The GBL plays under FIBA rules and currently consists of 13 teams, with the lowest-placed team relegated to the A2 Basket League and replaced by the winner of the play-offs of that tier. The Campeonato Uruguayo Federal de Básquetbol (CFB) (English: Uruguayan Federal Basketball Championship) was the top-tier level men's basketball national club competition in Uruguay. It was organized by the Uruguayan Basketball Federation (FUBB). It existed from 1915 to 2003, when it was replaced by the newly formed Liga Uruguaya de Básquetbol (LUB) (Uruguayan Basketball League). The Atlanta Hawks are an American professional basketball team based in Atlanta. The Hawks compete in the National Basketball Association (NBA) as a member of the league's Eastern Conference (NBA), Eastern Conference Southeast Division (NBA), Southeast Division. Esteban Damián Batista Hernández (born September 2, 1983) is a Uruguayan professional basketball player for Club Nacional de Football of the Liga Uruguaya de Basketball. He was the first ever Uruguayan to play in the NBA. Professional career Batista began his pro career in the Uruguayan League in 2001. He then moved to the second division of Spain, the Spanish LEB League in 2003. NBA Batista was signed as a free agent by the Atlanta Hawks on September 12, 2005. He made his NBA debut on November 2 of that year, going scoreless in 6 minutes of play time against the Golden State Warriors. Panathinaikos Football Club B, known as Panathinaikos B, (Greek: ΠΑΕ Παναθηναϊκός B) is a Greek football club based in Athens, Greece. Founded in 2021, they play as the reserve team of Panathinaikos in the Super League Greece 2. Panathinaikos B is one of four reserve teams givens approval from the EPO ( Hellenic Football Association) to play in the second division. Wilfredo Eduardo "Fefo" Ruiz Bruno (born June 1, 1962) is a retired Uruguayan professional basketball player. At a height of 1.92 m (6'3 ") tall, and a weight of 84 kg (185 lbs.), he played at the small forward position. Professional career During his club basketball career, Ruiz played in Uruguay, Argentina, and Brazil. Oscar Aldo Moglia Eiras (February 1, 1935 – October 8, 1989) was a basketball player from Uruguay. He was Jewish. Club career During his club career, Moglia played with the Uruguayan team Club Atlético Welcome. He won five Uruguayan Federal Championships (1953, 1956, 1957, 1966, 1967). He was the league's second all-time highest scorer, after Fefo Ruiz, with 11,374 career total points scored.
