Cloverhill
Cloverhill (or Clover Hill) is an unincorporated community located at the intersection of the boundaries of East Amwell and Raritan townships in Hunterdon County and Hillsborough Township in Somerset County, in New Jersey, United States. The Clover Hill Historic District was listed on the state and national registers of historic places in 1980. History John Bennett purchased several hundred acres of land here in 1683. The Clover Hill Reformed Church was built in 1834 as a Dutch Reformed Church. By the late 19th century, the community had a hotel, store, church, blacksmith and post office. The community is named after Peter Clover, a blacksmith who worked across from the church. Historic district The Clover Hill Historic District is a historic district encompassing the community along Amwell and Wertsville-Clover Hill Roads. East Amwell Township is a township in Hunterdon County, New Jersey, United States. As of the 2010 United States Census, the township's population was 4,013, reflecting a decline of 442 (−9.9%) from the 4,455 counted in the 2000 Census, which had in turn increased by 123 (+2.8%) from the 4,332 counted in the 1990 Census. Hillsborough Township is a township in Somerset County, New Jersey, United States. The township is centrally located in the Raritan Valley region within the much larger New York Metropolitan Area. As of the 2010 United States Census, the township's population was 38,303, reflecting an increase of 1,669 (+4.6%) from the 36,634 counted in the 2000 Census, which had in turn increased by 7,826 (+27.2%) from the 28,808 counted in the 1990 Census. Hillsborough Township was originally created by Royal charter issued May 31, 1771, which was revoked and revised on September 12, 1771. Government agencies, at the state, national, and local level in the United States, have differing definitions of what constitutes a contributing property but there are common characteristics.
