Clothilde (musician)
Clothilde (pseudonym of Élisabeth Beauvais; born February 22, 1948) is a French singer who was active for a brief period in 1967. She is the daughter of writer and broadcaster Robert Beauvais and actress Gisèle Parry. Clothilde recorded only two 45 rpm records in 1967 with words written by Jean-Yves Gaillac to music orchestrated by Germinal Tenas. Her material was re-released in 2013 by Born Bad Records. Yé-yé
''Yé-yé'' () (''yeyé'' in Spanish) was a style of pop music that emerged in Western-Southern Europe in the early 1960s. The French term "''yé-yé''" was derived from the English "yeah! yeah!", popularized by British beat music bands such as the Beatles. The style expanded worldwide as the result of the success of figures such as French singer-songwriters Sylvie Vartan, Serge Gainsbourg and Françoise Hardy. Yé-yé was a particular form of counterculture that derived most of its inspiration from British and American rock and roll. Additional stylistic elements of ''yé-yé'' song composition include baroque, exotica, pop, jazz and the French ''chanson.'' Robert Beauvais
Robert Beauvais (6 March 1911 – 23 February 1982) was a French writer and journalist. He was married twice, to Gisèle Parry and Ginette Garcin. From his first marriage he had a daughter, Élisabeth Beauvais, a musician known as Clothilde. Among his friends were Guy des Cars, Jacques Rueff, Maurice Boitel, and Françoise Sagan. Some of his works were later adapted by Jean Yanne. Disques Vogue was a jazz record company founded in France by Léon Cabat and Charles Delaunay in 1947, the year after the American Vogue label ceased. They originally specialized in jazz, featuring American performers such as Sidney Bechet, Dizzy Gillespie, and Gigi Gryce (sessions reissued on CD under Clifford Brown's name), in addition to local musicians Django Reinhardt and Martial Solal. In the late 1950s Vogue expanded into pop music, recording artists such as Petula Clark. In the 1960s and early 1970s the label added Jacques Dutronc and Françoise Hardy. They licensed recordings by ABBA for release in Belgium and France and European distribution of Recordings of Monsieur Tranquille. Vogue Records, a British offshoot, was founded in 1951 and absorbed by English Decca (then separate from the American company) around 1956, but the rights to the name reverted to the French parent in 1962, whereupon Decca renamed its Vogue label Vocalion.
