''Closer'' (1997) is a dramatic play by British playwright Patrick Marber. It premiered at the Royal National Theatre's Cottesloe Theatre in London in 1997 and made its North American debut at the Music Box Theatre on Broadway on 25 January 1999. It was adapted by Marber for the 2004 film of the same name, produced and directed by Mike Nichols. Patrick Marber
Patrick Albert Crispin Marber (born 19 September 1964) is an English comedian, playwright, director, actor, and screenwriter. Early life Marber was born and raised in a middle-class Jewish family in Wimbledon, London, the son of Angela (Benjamin), a theatre secretary, and Brian Marber, a technical analyst. Patrick J. Cunneen (born 1936) is an Irish retired hurling, hurler who played at club level with St. Patrick's GAA (Limerick), St. Patrick's and at inter-county level with Limerick GAA, Limerick.
