Closer (Better Than Ezra Album)
''Closer'' is the fifth studio album by the New Orleans-based rock trio Better Than Ezra. It was released on August 7, 2001 by Beyond Records. ''Closer'' initially performed better than its predecessor, ''How Does Your Garden Grow?'', peaking at #110 on the Billboard charts. The first single off the album, " Extra Ordinary," placed on both the Billboard Modern Rock and Adult Top 40 charts (it was the eighth and last BTE single to date to place on the Modern Rock charts). A second single, "Misunderstood," was planned, but Beyond Records declared bankruptcy before it could be released. As of early 2007, ''Closer'' was out of print due to Beyond Records going out of business and copies were scarce, though some were still in stock in stores. Legal problems resulting from Beyond's bankruptcy meant it would be four years before Better than Ezra's next studio album, ''Before the Robots''. Travis Aaron McNabb (born November 18, 1969) is an American drummer and percussionist. McNabb is perhaps best known as a longtime member of the band Better Than Ezra, although he has performed session and touring work with many acts during his career. Prior to joining Better Than Ezra in January 1996, McNabb toured with acts such as Vigilantes of Love, Beggars, and seminal Oregon-based punk rock band The Wipers. Tom Melville Drummond (born June 30, 1969 Shreveport, Louisiana) is an American musician. He is currently the bassist and background vocalist for the band, Better Than Ezra. Drummond is one of the four original founding members who formed Better Than Ezra in 1988. He had graduated from Caddo Magnet High School and was attending Louisiana State University at the time. "A Lifetime" is a song by the American alternative rock band Better Than Ezra. It was originally released on the band's 2001 album '' Closer''. However, a new, re-recorded version (which would become the single) appeared on their 2005 album ''Before the Robots''.
