Clonsilla Railway Station
Clonsilla railway station is a railway station that serves Clonsilla, in Fingal, Ireland. Description The station underwent an upgrade in 2000 that saw the platforms lengthened and a new station building being constructed. The ticket office is open from 06:00 AM to 14:00 PM, Monday to Friday. It is closed on Saturday and Sunday. In 2012, the station was further upgraded with a new footbridge and escalator, refurbished station building, new platform surfaces and construction of platform 3. Platform 3 is used for a shuttle train service between Clonsilla and M3 Parkway. The level crossing here is still a gated crossing, operated from a wheel in the signal cabin. History The station opened on 1 September 1848 and was closed for goods traffic on 17 June 1963. CIÉ 2600 Class
The Córas Iompair Éireann (CIÉ) 2600 Class were Associated Equipment Company (AEC)–engined diesel multiple units (normally termed railcars in Ireland) that operated InterCity and suburban services on the CIÉ system between 1952 and 1975. Many were later converted for push–pull operation with diesel locomotives, finally being withdrawn when displaced by the electric Dublin Area Rapid Transit service in the mid-1980s. Background The first single-unit diesel railcars in Ireland were introduced on the narrow-gauge County Donegal and Clogher Valley railways in the early 1930s. Dunboyne railway station is a railway station serving the town of Dunboyne in County Meath, Ireland. Dunboyne station features car parking for up to 300 cars, operated by APCOA Parking, enabling it to serve as a small park & ride stop for commuters to Dublin. Midland Great Western Railway
The Midland Great Western Railway (MGWR) was the third largest Irish gauge () railway company in Ireland. It was incorporated in 1845 and absorbed into the Great Southern Railways in 1924. At its peak the MGWR had a network of , making it Ireland's third largest network after the Great Southern and Western Railway (GS&WR) and the Great Northern Railway of Ireland. The Dublin-Navan line (via Clonsilla) is a partially-open commuter rail line between Dublin and the town of Navan in County Meath. Since September 2010, train services operate from Docklands Station to M3 Parkway, with an extension to Navan itself proposed. The Dublin Area Rapid Transit system (stylised as DART) is an electrified commuter rail railway network serving the coastline and city of Dublin, Ireland. Commuter ( ga, Comaitéir) is a brand of suburban rail services operated by Iarnród Éireann in the Republic of Ireland, serving the cities of Dublin, Cork, Limerick and Galway.
