''The Neptunes Present... Clones'' is a compilation album produced and released by American production duo The Neptunes (producer-singer Pharrell Williams and producer Chad Hugo). It was released on August 19, 2003 and has been certified Gold by the RIAA. The album featured six singles; " Frontin'" by Pharrell Williams, "Popular Thug" by Kelis, "Light Your Ass on Fire" by Busta Rhymes, “Rock ‘n’ Roll” by Fam-Lay, " Hot Damn" by Clipse and " It Blows My Mind" by Snoop Dogg. Critical reception ''Clones'' received generally positive reviews from music critics. Commercial performance The album debuted at number one on the US ''Billboard'' 200 chart, with first-week sales of 250,000 copies in the United States. The Neptunes
The Neptunes are an American songwriting and production duo composed of Pharrell Williams and Chad Hugo, formed in Virginia Beach, Virginia, in 1992. Williams often provides additional vocals on records and appears in the duo's music videos, while Hugo tends to stay behind the scenes. The Neptunes have produced hit songs for a multitude of artists, including N.O.R.E., Clipse, Britney Spears, Jay-Z, Mystikal, Justin Timberlake, Busta Rhymes, Usher, Nelly, Gwen Stefani, and Snoop Dogg. Trevor George Smith Jr. (born May 20, 1972), known professionally as Busta Rhymes, is an American rapper, singer, songwriter, record producer and actor. Chuck D of Public Enemy gave him the moniker Busta Rhymes, after NFL and CFL wide receiver George "Buster" Rhymes. He has received 12 Grammy Award nominations for his work, making him one of the most-nominated artists without winning. Busta Rhymes was an original member of Leaders of the New School, a group that attracted national attention when they opened on tour for Public Enemy. Boo-Bonic
Philly's Most Wanted was an American hip hop duo composed of Al "Boo-Bonic" Holly and Joel "Mr. Man" Witherspoon. The duo broke into the music business as affiliates of production duo, The Neptunes. The duo signed with Atlantic Records in 2000 and issued their first two singles, "Y'all Can't Never Hurt Us" and " Cross the Border" soon after. The latter song peaked at #98 on the ''Billboard'' Hot 100 and 3 on the ''Billboard'' Hot Rap Singles. Their debut album, '' Get Down or Lay Down'', however, was delayed for over a year, finally being released on August 7, 2001. Despite production from The Neptunes, the album failed commercially, only reaching No. 69 on the ''Billboard'' 200 majorly due to the fact that BET refused to support their video for Cross the Border which contributed to the end of the duo as well. Terrence LeVarr Thornton (born May 13, 1977), better known by his stage name Pusha T, is an American rapper, songwriter and record executive. He rose to prominence as one-half of the hip hop duo Clipse, which was mainly active from 1994 to 2010, alongside his older brother No Malice. As Clipse, the two released three studio albums and a number of mixtapes, and had hit singles including " Grindin'" and "When the Last Time" (both 2002).
