''Cloaks'' is a 1998 role-playing game supplement for '' Over the Edge'' published by Atlas Games. Contents ''Cloaks'' is a sourcebook with information intended for secret agents. Its name is drawn for the 'Marjian slang term for spies. Since Al Amarja has more conspiracies than any other country on earth, it is chock-a-block with Companies and the Cloaks and Frills that work for them. Chapter 0 (''Uses For This Book''): A preface by the author. Chapter 1 (''How to Do It''): Adventure seeds, plot hooks, and motivations involving the various previously detailed conspiracies. Over The Edge (game)
''Over the Edge'' is a surreal role-playing game of secrets and conspiracies, taking place on the mysterious Island of Al Amarja. It was created by Jonathan Tweet with Robin Laws, and published by Atlas Games. ''Over The Edge'' departed from the model of predefined character attributes and skills, in favour of player-chosen traits; and was among the first to be based on the dice pool, where the number of dice rolled, rather than how they are interpreted, is determined by the characters' abilities. Both ''Over the Edge'' and '' Vampire: The Masquerade'' were based upon a project between Jonathan Tweet and Mark Rein·Hagen which followed their development of ''Ars Magica'' for Lion Rampant. They share the concept of a dice pool, which they presumably inherit from that initial design. Atlas Games
Atlas Games is a company which publishes role-playing games, board games and card games. Its founder and current president is John Nephew. History When Atlas Games did not have the finances to publish '' On the Edge'' (1994), they partnered with Jerry Corrick and Bob Brynildson and formed a new corporation called Trident, Inc. to publish the game. Eventually Atlas subsumed into Trident; Brynildson, Corrick, and their store - The Source Comics & Games - continued to support Atlas with their business experience and perspective. A shiv, also chiv, schiv, shivvie, or shank, is a handcrafted bladed-weapon resembling a knife that is commonly associated with London. Since blades are highly prohibited in the United Kingdom, the intended mode of concealment is central to a shiv's construction. An especially thin handle, for instance, makes it easier to conceal in a hidden pocket of a coat, or in stacks of objects, such as books, permitted to the London gent; however, this can also render the shiv difficult to grip and wield. ''Shadis'' is an independent gaming magazine that was published in 1990–1998 by Alderac Entertainment Group (AEG). It initially focused on role-playing games.
