Clive Meredith
Clive Burlingame Meredith (February 7, 1892 – April 11, 1932) was an American broadcast engineering, radio engineer and radio station owner. Meredith served as the founding owner and operator of WSYR (AM), WSYR in Syracuse, New York. He also assisted the Federal Radio Commission with the developing a means to reduce heterodyne interference between radio stations operating on the same transmitting frequency. Early life and education Meredith was born to Eugene Meredith and Gertrude Burlingame Meredith in Syracuse. He was a grandson of diplomat Anson Burlingame and a cousin of author Roger Burlingame. Meredith graduated from the Morristown-Beard School#History, Morristown School (now Morristown-Beard School) in Morristown, New Jersey in 1910. WADO (1280 AM) is a commercial radio station licensed to New York City. It is owned and operated by Uforia Audio Network, a subsidiary of Univision. It broadcasts a Spanish-language sports radio format. By day, WADO is powered at 50,000 watts, the maximum permitted for American AM stations. But to protect other stations on 1280 AM from interference, at night it reduces power to 7,200 watts. It uses a directional antenna with a four-tower array. The Occupation of the Rhineland from 1 December 1918 until 30 June 1930 was a consequence of the collapse of the Imperial German Army in 1918, after which Germany's provisional government was obliged to agree to the terms of the 1918 armistice. This included accepting that the troops of the victorious powers occupied the left bank of the Rhine and four right bank "bridgeheads" with a radius around Cologne, Koblenz, Mainz and a radius around Kehl. Furthermore, the left bank of the Rhine and a strip east of the Rhine was declared a demilitarized zone. The 41st Infantry Division was an infantry division of the United States Army National Guard composed primarily of units from the Pacific Northwest. The division saw active service in World War I and World War II., receiving the nickname Jungleers during the latter.
