Climbing Trees
Climbing Trees are a Welsh four-piece "Cymrucana" band based in Pontypridd, South Wales. The group currently features Matthew Frederick (piano/guitar/vocals), Colenso Jones (guitar/bass/vocals), Martin Webb (guitar/bass/vocals) and James Bennetts (drums/vocals). History Formed in 2011, the band soon came to the attention of BBC Radio Wales as work on their first release progressed, being named BBC Introducing Band of the Week in February 2013 after supporting New York group Spin Doctors the previous month. Shortly after, the band appeared as part of ''BBC Radio Wales Music Day'', before ''Single of the Week'' (for ''Aloisi'') and ''Welsh Artist of the Week'' recognition followed in August 2013. In October of the same year, the band were hand-picked by Jamie Cullum as the support act for the Cardiff leg of his ''Momentum'' tour. BBC Cymru Wales
BBC Cymru Wales is a division of the BBC and the main public broadcaster in Wales. It is one of the four BBC national regions, alongside the BBC English Regions, BBC Northern Ireland and BBC Scotland. Festival N°6
Festival N°6 (Festival Number 6) is an annual art and music festival held in and around Portmeirion, North Wales. The festival presents a wide range of music genres across multiple stages. It is advertised as a family-friendly festival, and as such various areas of the festival are targeted to families, such as "No.6's Mischief Meadow" for children and a designated family camping area. In 2013 one of the organizers stated that due to the size of the village the festival was not likely to grow beyond 10,000 attendees across the weekend. In July 2018 the festival organisers announced that the festival would be taking an indefinite break. Grizzly Bear is an American rock band from Brooklyn, New York, formed in 2002. For most of its tenure, the band has consisted of Edward Droste (vocals, keyboards, guitar), Daniel Rossen (vocals, guitar, banjo, keyboards), Chris Taylor (bass, backing vocals, woodwinds, production), and Christopher Bear (drums, percussion, backing vocals). Crosby, Stills & Nash (CSN) were a folk rock supergroup made up of American singer-songwriters David Crosby and Stephen Stills and English singer-songwriter Graham Nash. When joined by Canadian singer-songwriter Neil Young as a fourth member, they are called Crosby, Stills, Nash & Young (CSNY). They are noted for their lasting influence on American music and culture, and for their intricate vocal harmonies, often tumultuous interpersonal relationships, and political activism. CSN formed in 1968 shortly after Crosby, Stills and Nash performed together informally in July of that year, discovering they harmonized well. Adam Walton
Adam Walton (born 31 May 1971) is a British radio disc jockey who has presented shows on BBC Radio Wales since 1993. He is also a member of Mold, Flintshire, Mold-based, indie band The Immediate, and a resident DJ at Telford's Warehouse in Chester. Adam has also written a book ''On Making Music''. Early life and career Walton was born in Davenham, Cheshire. His family moved to Nannerch, Wales where he was brought up. He studied English at Liverpool University gaining a degree and formed a band in 1990 to 'avoid working.' In June 1991 Adam began presenting a series of seven 30 minute radio shows called ''Burst'' on the now defunct station, BBC Radio Clwyd. Americana (also known as American roots music) is an amalgam of American music formed by the confluence of the shared and varied traditions that make up the musical ethos of the United States, specifically those sounds that are emerged from the Southern United States such as folk, gospel, blues, country, jazz, rhythm and blues, rock and roll, bluegrass, and other external influences. Cool Cymru ( cy, Cŵl Cymru) was a Welsh cultural movement in music and independent film in the 1990s and 2000s, led by the popularity of bands such as Stereophonics, Gorky's Zygotic Mynci, Manic Street Preachers, Catatonia and Super Furry Animals. Etymology and usage The term ''Cool Cymru'' ( Cymru is the Welsh name for Wales) derived as a Welsh alternative to ''Cool Britannia'' (itself a pun on the British patriotic song "Rule, Britannia!"). ''Cool Britannia'' described the revival of British art and culture in the 1990s, the term captured the cultural renaissance centred on London (as celebrated in a 1996 ''Newsweek'' magazine cover headlined "London Rules"), emphasised British culture and used British symbols such as The Union Jack.
