Clifton School (Durban) is an independent day school for boys in Durban, KwaZulu-Natal, South Africa. History The early years Mr Harry Stubbs, the retired first headmaster of Durban Preparatory High School (DPHS), established Clifton Preparatory School for boys on 5 February 1924. (In South African terminology a "preparatory" school is a primary school for children up to grade 8, or approximately thirteen years of age.) The Stubbs home, at 102 Lambert Road, provided the classrooms needed for the small numbers of boys who enrolled at the time. Although the school had at first been named ‘Stubbs School’, Mr Stubbs's daughter, Dorothy Stubbs, suggested the name ‘Clifton’, in memory of her cousin ‘Clifford’, who had been killed during the First World War. The original home still stands, and is known as "Stubbs House". Miss Stubbs taught at Clifton for seven years until her marriage. Clifton Preparatory School, Nottingham Road is a private, co-educational day and boarding primary school located in the Nottingham Road area of the KwaZulu-Natal Midlands in South Africa. History The school was founded in 1942 when a number of Clifton Durban boys moved to the KwaZulu-Natal Midlands over fears of danger during World War II. Clifton has added Grade 00 and phased out Grade 8 which traditionally was a boys-only grade. Boarding Clifton accepts boy and girl boarders from Grade 1 (age 6) and offers boarding options, from full boarding to weekly and temporary boarding. Clifton is one of the few remaining independent preparatory schools in KwaZulu-Natal that offers full boarding to young children, with boarders coming from around the country and various Southern African countries. Clifton Community School is a secondary school located in Rotherham, South Yorkshire, England. It is situated on Middle Lane and receives children from a number of primary schools throughout Rotherham. Clifton is a secondary school serving school years from 7 - 11, with number of pupils on the school roll at 1,009. It is mixed gender and serves pupils aged between 11 – 16. In January 2014 Clifton Community School entered into a partnership with Wickersley School and Sports College. History Clifton first started at Rotherham Girls' High School which was a grammar school. Rotherham Girls' Grammar School was established and was dominated by Rotherham Corporation in 1906. Rotherham Girls' High School was moved to Middle Lane, Rotherham.
