Click, Clack, Moo
''Click, Clack, Moo: Cows That Type'' is a 2000 children's book written by Doreen Cronin. Illustrated by Betsy Lewin, the Simon & Schuster book tells the story of Farmer Brown's cows, who find an old typewriter in the barn and proceed to write letters to Farmer Brown, making various demands and then going on strike when they aren't met. A book and CD edition was also released, with the CD being narrated by Rik Mayall. The CD features three tracks; tracks one and three featuring the story being read with background music and sound effect track, track two being solely the story without added audio. Plot Farmer Brown begins to hear typing sounds coming from his barn. He discovers that his cows have found an old typewriter in the barn and are using it to type letters requesting things from Farmer Brown, such as electric blankets to keep them warm at night. Doreen Cronin
Doreen Cronin (born 1966) is an American writer of children's books, including ''Click Clack Moo: Cows That Type'', a very well-received picture book illustrated by Betsy Lewin. Life Born in Queens, New York and growing up on Long Island, Cronin's first book was published by Simon & Schuster in 2000: '' Click, Clack, Moo: Cows That Type'', a picture book that she wrote and Betsy Lewin illustrated. She completed law school and the book at around the same time. Illustrator Lewin was a runner-up for the annual Caldecott Medal. Cronin lives in Brooklyn with her two children. ''Duck for President'' is the title of a children's book written by Doreen Cronin and illustrated by Betsy Lewin. Released in 2004 through Simon & Schuster, ''The New York Times'' Best Illustrated Book follows the further adventures of Farmer Brown's animals that were introduced in '' Click, Clack, Moo: Cows That Type''. On April 9, 2007, the book was read by Laura Bush as part of the annual White House Easter egg roll. Weston Woods Studios released a 15-minute animated version of the book, released as a bilingual DVD in 2004, the same year the book came out. Plot summary Duck becomes frustrated with Farmer Brown's rule over the farm, and holds an election to take over the farm. He goes to the mayor and governor's offices, then even visits the president. Plot While the farmer sleeps on the couch close to the fishing tank, Duck and the barnyard animals sneak into the house on a quiet mission that involves "3 buckets piled high" outside the window and "4 chickens standing by". At the end of the book, the reader finds out that Duck's plan was the liberate the farmer's fish.
